Active Release Techniques ® is a revolutionary manual soft tissue treatment that aims to restore normal function between muscles and nerves. When an injury occurs, adhesions or scar tissue may form between adjacent tissues, such as muscles, tendons, nerves and ligaments. The adhesions affect the smooth motion of one structure against the other. This results in abnormal biomechanics, causing compression or inhibition of these tissues. Used by a professional, this ‘massage like’ technique can break up scar tissue, release adhesions and restore proper functioning of the muscle fibers, leading to quicker healing and prompt return to activity. About Athletic Therapy

In Canada, a Certified Athletic Therapist – CAT(C) is a health care practitioner devoted to the prevention, identification, intervention, management and treatment of emergency, acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions and injuries to the physically active sustained either at work or through involvement in recreational or sporting activities. An Athletic Therapist (AT) optimizes the ability of professional, amateur and recreational athletes to perform at their best through sport specific training, injury prevention and rehabilitation for rapid return to work or play. Gardening season is here, but not at the expense of your back ❌

Here are some gardening tips to avoid injury:
1) Hinge your hips (not your back)
2) Use support (kneeling pads & stools)
3) Take breaks to stretch and hydrate 💦

What’s the diagnosis 🔎

Answer: Rib dysfunction (costovertebral joint dysfunction)

When the rib doesn’t move well, it can create pain with:
-breathing
-twisting
-certain movements

Fix the movement, reduce the pain 🙌
