Red Deer Hospice is a free standing, residential end-of-life care facility located in the quiet neighbourhood of Anders in Red Deer. Our 16, private, fully contained rooms ensure peace, intimacy and dignity for residents and their families.

🎶 Sometimes connection looks like country music, pretzels, a cold bevvie and time with the guys. Recently, our team created a casual afternoon especially for some of the men currently at Hospice and their sons. With live country music from one of our wonderful volunteers, they had a chance to sit back, share a few snacks and simply spend some time together.

Because sometimes supporting families means creating space for dads and sons to just be dads and sons.

☀️ We couldn’t have asked for a better day to celebrate our team!

Staff and Board members gathered outside Hospice for lunch from 3 Pink Flamingos and a special Years of Service recognition presentation, celebrating team members who have reached milestones in their time with Red Deer Hospice.

And because good food is even better shared, we invited our neighbours to stop by the food truck too! It was a wonderful chance to say hello, enjoy the sunshine and celebrate some of the incredible people who make Hospice feel like home. ❤️

An update to this year’s Hospice Handbag Auction 👜

We had hoped to gather with you in person on September 16. Unfortunately, ticket sales have not reached the level needed to deliver the event experience we had planned, so we have made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person portion of this year’s Handbag Auction.

💻The Online Handbag Auction will continue as planned!

Beginning September 2, you can browse and bid on a great collection of handbags from wherever you are, with bidding open through September 16.

We know September can be a busy time of year, and that’s one of the things we love about online bidding. Browse from home, check your bids when it works for you, or use Max Bid to stay in the running for your favourite.

Every bid helps support compassionate end-of-life care at Red Deer Hospice, and we hope you’ll join us online beginning September 2.

👰🤵‍♂️ Sometimes, the most meaningful celebrations are the ones that come together unexpectedly.

When Taryn and Seth were married away from home, Taryn’s grandmother, Sue, wasn't able to be there. So they brought a little piece of their wedding day to Hospice.

With flowers in the room and Sue and Taryn’s mom, Laura, by their side, Taryn and Seth exchanged vows once again in a small ceremony officiated by Janice — this time with Grandma there to witness it. ❤️

Because even at end of life, there are still milestones to celebrate, memories to make, and moments worth gathering for.

There’s something special about gathering around a table to share a meal. 🍔

Recently, we had the pleasure of celebrating our incredible volunteers with a Volunteer Appreciation BBQ, made possible by the generosity of Ryan from Maple Leaf Roadhouse BBQ. Staff joined in to share good food, great conversation, and a well-deserved afternoon of gratitude for the people who give so much of themselves throughout the year.

To Ryan, and to every volunteer who helps make Red Deer Hospice feel like home—thank you. Your kindness creates moments of comfort and connection in more ways than one.

👀We’re looking for compassionate volunteers to join our Bereavement Support team.

Our Bereavement Support Volunteers walk alongside family members in the year following the loss of a loved one at Hospice. With guidance from our Bereavement Support Coordinators, volunteers connect by phone every few months—offering a listening ear, compassionate presence, and helpful resources along the way.

We’re currently looking for caring volunteers to join this important part of our Hospice community. If you’re someone who listens with empathy and would like to offer comfort to others navigating grief, we’d love to hear from you.
