šŸ’™The body functions as one integrated system—structure and function are inseparable.šŸ’™

Jaw clenching, rib restriction, diaphragmatic movement, core control, and pelvic floor tone are all interconnected through the musculoskeletal system, fascia, and nervous system.

When the body is under physical, emotional, or postural stress, it often adopts a protective strategy, increasing muscle tension throughout the system. This can show up in the jaw, neck, diaphragm, abdominal wall, hips, and pelvic floor.

From an osteopathic perspective, efficient movement depends on coordinated function between the diaphragm, rib cage, core, and pelvic floor. When this relationship is disrupted, compensations can develop throughout the body.

Osteopathic treatment aims to restore mobility, improve coordination, and support nervous system regulation—helping the body move out of protective patterns and back toward efficient function.

Book an appointment with .osteo to assess and address the body as a whole.

šŸ‘¶šŸ¼ Acupuncture for Breech Baby šŸ‘¶šŸ¼

Found out your baby is breech? Before assuming a C-section is your only option, there may be natural ways to support your birth plan.

✨ Acupuncture, often combined with moxibustion (moxa), is commonly used from around 34 weeks to encourage babies to move into a head-down position. Research suggests this approach may help improve the chances of a breech baby turning naturally.

šŸ’™ Treatments are gentle, relaxing, and designed to reduce tension in the body, creating optimal conditions for baby to move.

Every pregnancy is unique, but if your baby is breech, it’s worth exploring your options.

šŸ’™ ā€œI didn’t know chiropractic could help with that.ā€ šŸ’™

I hear this all the time.

Chiropractic care is about so much more than just neck and back pain. Every patient is different, and a large part of my day is spent treating a variety of injuries and concerns throughout the body, including:
• Feet & ankles
• Knees
• Hips
• Shoulders
• Wrists & elbows

Whether symptoms come from sports, work, pregnancy, workouts, posture, or everyday life, chiropractic care can support how your body moves, functions, and recovers. ✨

Treatment looks different for every person and every condition, but may include:
āœ”ļø Joint & soft tissue therapy
āœ”ļø Acupuncture
āœ”ļø Mobility and movement support
āœ”ļø Muscle release & stretching
āœ”ļø Exercise recommendations

Your body works as one connected system — and chiropractic care is designed to support the whole body, not just the neck or back.

Always tailored to you, your goals, your comfort, and your lifestyle.

šŸ’™ Ever wake up and feel like your neck just… gave up overnight? šŸ’™

That ā€œslept wrongā€ feeling isn’t random.
It’s often your body saying: that was the final straw.šŸ˜“āž”ļøšŸ˜£

All day, we load the neck—stress, posture, workouts, carrying kids.
Then we lie still for hours…

From an osteopathic perspective, it’s not just muscles + joints—it’s also fluid dynamics.

When there’s tension and compression through the neck, upper back, and ribs:
• Blood flow can become restricted
• Lymphatic drainage can slow down
• Fluids don’t move as well without motion

āž”ļø Overnight, that can lead to congestion, stiffness, and pain when you wake up

So it’s not just how you slept—
it’s what your body went into sleep with.

An osteopath can help you find and treat the root cause—restoring movement, reducing tension, and supporting better fluid flow.

šŸ’™Is your teen active… but always slouching? šŸ¤”
You’re not imagining it.šŸ’™

Between sports, school, and screen time, many teens are developing postural habits that don’t match their level of activity.

āž”ļø Forward head posture
āž”ļø Rounded shoulders
āž”ļø Neck & upper back or mid to lower back strain

Even active teens may notice:
• Neck/back discomfort
• Reduced mobility
• Muscle fatigue
• Changes in breathing
• Decreased performance

šŸ“µ Screen time isn’t going anywhere—but how we use it matters. Simple shifts help:
• Screens at eye level
• Regular movement breaks
• Balance screen time with movement
• Train postural muscles too

šŸ’™ When Your Brain Feels Cloudy: Which Fats Actually Help? šŸ’™

Brain fog is one of the most common things I hear about—and one of the most misunderstood.

There are days when your brain just… doesn’t cooperate. You reread the same sentence three times. Words feel slow to come. Focus slips through your fingers. You might call it ā€œbrain fog,ā€ but whatever the label, it’s frustrating—and often a signal, not a flaw.

While there are many reasons this can happen (stress, sleep, hormones, blood sugar, inflammation), one often-overlooked piece is fat quality.

Your brain is nearly 60% fat. The types of fat you eat can either support clarity and resilience—or quietly contribute to that foggy, sluggish feeling.

And while supplements can help…the type matters. Omega 3’s are vital, but there are other types of fat that are just as important! And hormones are made from fat...so if you’re in a hormonally changeable time, this will matter to you.

This is where a lot of people get stuck:
taking the right thing for the wrong pattern.

If this resonated, or you’re trying to piece together your own pattern, that’s exactly the work we do in practice. More about it on the blog this month!

🌿 Dr. Natalie is now accepting new patients — with availability in May!

Did you know Vitamin D plays a key role in fertility and pregnancy outcomes?

Research shows:ā€ØāœØ Vitamin D supplementation may improve pregnancy rates
ā€ØāœØ It can support ovulation, especially in women with PCOS
ā€ØāœØ Higher Vitamin D levels are linked to increased live birth rates and lower miscarriage risk

šŸ“Š Some findings:
• Every 2.5 nmol/L increase in Vitamin D = ~2% increase in live birth rate
• Levels above 112 nmol/L → up to 4x higher live birth rates
• Levels below 75 nmol/L → 44% reduction in live birth rates
• Levels above 95 nmol/L → 82% lower risk of miscarriage

Fertility is complex and multifactorial, but optimizing key nutrients like Vitamin D can make a meaningful difference.

If you’re trying to conceive or looking for support on your fertility journey, start with a comprehensive prenatal screen.

šŸ’™ Did you know your thyroid plays a key role in fertility and pregnancy? šŸ’™

Your thyroid hormones help regulate ovulation, implantation, and early fetal development. Even mild imbalances can make it harder to conceive or increase the risk of complications in early pregnancy.

That’s why a complete thyroid screen is an important step when:
- You’re trying to conceive
- You’re newly pregnant
-You’re feeling fatigued, anxious, or having irregular cycles

A thorough thyroid panel often includes:

ā— TSH
ā— Free T4 and Free T3
ā— Thyroid antibodies (TPO & TgAb) — to assess for autoimmune thyroiditis

Balancing your thyroid before and during pregnancy helps:
- Support ovulation and cycle regularity
- Reduce miscarriage risk
- Support healthy brain development in baby

If you’re preparing for pregnancy or IVF, this simple test can make a big difference.
Ask our fertility focused naturopathic doctor about a fertility-focused thyroid assessment.

šŸ’™ Swelling in pregnancy is common—but that doesn’t mean you need to just tolerate the discomfort. šŸ’™

As your body changes, increased fluid volume, posture shifts, and pressure through the pelvis can contribute to swollen feet, ankles, hands, and feelings of heaviness.

Osteopathy offers gentle hands-on treatment that may help support:
• Circulation
• Mobility
• Pelvic and rib cage movement
• Lower body comfort
• Overall ease through pregnancy

Treatment is always adapted to your stage of pregnancy and comfort level.

If you’re feeling swollen, heavy, or uncomfortable, osteopathy may be a helpful part of your prenatal support team.
