Before there were pharmacies on every corner.
Before men decided women had no place in medicine.
Before the women who healed their communities were called witches…
Before generations of plant wisdom was dismissed, suppressed, or forgotten...
Before there were bottles with warnings, side effects, and synthetic compounds...
Before we automatically reached for "a quick fix"
There were roots, leaves, flowers, mushrooms, and the wisdom passed down through generations. People looked to the earth for comfort, nourishment, healing, ritual, and connection.
That doesn't mean everything “natural” is automatically safe or that modern medicine has no place. Far from that.
It just means we don't always have to reach for that sleep aid, that pain pill, that gravol, that cough suppressant... we have the tools and the medicine we need, all around us.
Our ancestors paid attention.
The healers of the past paid attention.
They watched what grew.
They noticed what soothed.
They remembered what helped.
And they passed that knowledge on.
Maybe it's time we remember too. 🌿💚
