In a one single 12-hour shift, a nurse might:
• Keep a critically ill patient alive
• Respond to medical emergencies
• Administer medications safely
• Comfort scared patients and families
• Handle aggressive or confused patients
• Coordinate with doctors, pharmacists, and specialists
• Manage life-or-death decisions
• Support someone through their final moments
• Miss breaks and work short-staffed
• Document everything while caring for multiple patients at once
And then show up and do it all again tomorrow.
