Not only was the owner a lying POS. He isn’t Métis nor “Indigenous”.
His food was trash and clearly not food safe.
The Vancouver Food Inspectors were quick to act and shut that nasty establishment down!

The video is quite self-explanatory; owner operator and cultural usurper, Vince Froom, awkwardly fast talks himself in and out of ”Indigenous” ownership to “Indigenous” inspired. 🤮
The Facts:
🤮The owner, Vince, is not First Nations, Inuit, nor Métis.
🤮Vince lied about 2 local First Nations entrepreneurs as holding percentage of .bc.kitchen
🤮Both Dennis and Ruby adamantly deny any involvement with this person or business.
🤮Vince is making money off of “Indigenous” culture.

The moral, ethical, cultural, societal, harmful, and violent impacts are astounding.
My people are still living in apartheid and fighting against genocide. We have been historically and currently kept in poverty, legislated via the Indian Act against participating in our previously thriving economies. The effects of this are still realized today. So when we get word of an outsider profiting off of our culture, we organize and unite to fiercely protect what is our birth right and what was taken from us.
Cultural appropriation is in essence an extension of resource extraction. The United States have very clear cut laws against non-American Indians from profiting off of said cultures. Canada needs to create its own legislation protecting us from bottom feeders. Isn’t this the city of Reconciliation? 🙄
Well, Sage Fam, this culture vulture is about twenty steps from my new shop.
Call to action:
🪶 Boycott this business. His products look nasty AF and they def gonna make you sick.
🪶 Tell your friends. Like, share, comment, repost.
🪶 Support authentic Indigenous businesses.
🪶Clue in your gut feelings, if it doesn’t feel right, go ahead and ask about it, ask the community, do a little bit of research.
I’m excited for my move to Commercial Drive, a homecoming of sorts. I’m disheartened that in will include this man.

NATIVE NORTHWEST.
Gabe ran for the Liberal Party under Crusty Clarke campaigning ANTI BDS. Literally fighting and denying Indigenous Palestinians human rights. At the same time pillaging the natives here and data mining our culture to explode their bank accounts.
He also proselytized youth to create a Jewish “army” to take over our government.
Did I forget to mention he was also a Chevron Lobbyist?
Stop. Giving. These. Men. Your. Money.

📦✨ We’re Moving, and We Need Our Community ✨📦
Small business is never just about making products.
Over the last few years, we’ve carried the cost of building repairs, plumbing issues, maintenance, and all the unexpected expenses that come with keeping the doors open. Like many small businesses, we’ve spent a lot of time supporting a building that wasn’t supporting us back.
The good news?
Sisters Sage has found a new home. 💛
A space that makes more sense for our future, our team, and the community we’re building.
The challenging part is that moving comes with costs. Between overlapping rent, moving expenses, fixtures, shelving, inventory transfers, and setting up a new location, we’re carrying a lot all at once.
So we’re doing what small businesses have always done.

I often get overwhelmed at the amount of people asking me for free products to bolster their own events and businesses. At my cost. But also at my labour; having to expend my emotional energies and labour to educate why these asks are harmful and quite frankly, extractive FOR FREE is exhausting. So I tag my bestie in to impart some knowledge. And she never misses.
Please feel free to use this as a jumping off point for your own responses. Let’s stand up and stop being taken advantage of for performative allyship.
Your products and knowledge are worth more than a social media post and “exposure”.
