When we were homeless for a month, the Kentville Library was one of our refuges. We went there almost daily to do our schoolwork; it did not matter if we were there for 30 minutes, or 4 hours, we were made to feel welcome.

Libraries are, as the sign says, fundamental for equitable and equal access to information, but they are also so much more. They are one of the few third spaces that we have left. They are a place where people from all walks of life, but especially marginalized folks, can learn new skills, use a computer, print resumes or bloodwork requisitions, do puzzles, meet new people, or simply warm up from the cold: with a sense of dignity.

West Hants, and the Annapolis Valley in general, are largely rural areas. We do not have the same level of access to services and events that cities do, and libraries help bridge that gap. So please, voice your concerns to your elected officials!

This regular requested star shaped eyes for Bambi's cherry skulls flash, which made the piece something special and Bambi was very happy to tattoo it. Then Beaver had the pleasure of adding an adorable custom fairy to the mix. And shout out to Nick from Tiger's Eye who tattooed the amazing funky frog! 🌷
