(PJI) remains one of the most serious complications following and . Identifying patients at increased risk before surgery remains challenging—particularly when routine laboratory fall within normal reference ranges.

🔬 In this study, the authors explore whether routine preoperative laboratory biomarkers can reveal interpretable patterns associated with subsequent PJI using medically guided feature engineering and transparent machine-learning methods.

The work highlights how combining clinical expertise, routinely available laboratory data, and interpretable may help uncover patterns that could contribute to improved and further research in PJI prevention.
