Yesterday in Lugano (Switzerland), a special live episode of Tintoria, the popular Italian podcast by Daniele Tinti and Stefano Rapone, was organised by IBSA Foundation for scientific research. The special guest at the evening event was Dario Bressanini – a chemist and one of Italy’s leading science communicators – who discussed issues including nutrition, fake news and critical thinking with the hosts.

For IBSA Foundation, promoting “Science for All” also means exploring new languages and new spaces for dialogue, taking scientific dissemination outside traditional settings and appealing to diverse audiences with contemporary and participatory formats.

This is the spirit that inspires projects such as SciArt, Let’s Science! and, today, the collaboration with Tintoria.

Gaining a better understanding of the social and cultural transformations that are redefining the concept of parenthood: this is the aim of the study entitled “Parenthood in Switzerland – A Report on (In)fertility and Childlessness”, which was conducted and developed in collaboration with IBSA Foundation for scientific research and the Universität Zürich .
The study was presented last Tuesday in Zurich (Switzerland) during a round table discussion with experts from the scientific, medical and political communities, and reflects IBSA Foundation’s commitment to promoting research, understanding and debate.

Some people see the world as it is. Others imagine how it could be. In this episode of , we tell the story of Florence Nightingale, a woman who had a significant impact on the world of medicine in 19th-century England.

During the Crimean War (1853 - 1856), she was faced with hospitals in a critical state and realised that many lives could be saved by better hygiene, ventilation and organisation. Through data, observation and method, she helped bring about changes that would leave a mark on modern medicine.

Her influence extended far beyond her role as a nurse: Florence Nightingale demonstrated how even the simplest measures can have a huge impact.

Research, talent and the future: the awards ceremony for the 13th edition of the IBSA Foundation Fellowships was held last Friday in Barcelona (ES). Six young researchers under the age of 40 were officially awarded grants worth €32,000 each. This year’s edition also saw the establishment of the new Research Equity Prize for projects developed at a research institution based in a developing country.

Before the prize giving event, hosted at the Royal Academy of Medicine de Cataluña, a roundtable discussion focused on the importance of supporting projects by talented young researchers. During the ceremony, IBSA Foundation announced the opening of the Fellowship call for 2026. For the next edition, the Foundation is strengthening its commitment by adding another grant, increasing the total to seven.

In 2025 IBSA launched a process to decrease the weight of the secondary packaging of all medicines produced in Switzerland, in order to reduce tangibly its resource usage.
