What if s€x really slowed down—what would happen?

What if s€x was more about connection than or**sm?

Or, what if, perhaps, an expanded version of or**sm came out of connection?

What if slowing down allowed for a whole new level of spiritual awareness and experience?

What issues would resolve by slowing down?

Let me be upfront: In my experience, slowing down is not always easy. It requires us to really cultivate presence “INSIDE” the body and “WITH” our partner.

That takes a whole lot of presence.

Presence “IN” the body can be a steep learning curve.

This is why in our “Slow S€x Book Study” program, we have included somatic exercises to enhance our capacity for presence and embodiment.

It is also fair to say that sometimes we have developed “adaptations” to survive the world.

This could include unconsciously avoiding “BEING” in the body.

This is why, as part of the “Slow S€x Book Study”, both Shawn and I, as trained Psychosomatic practitioners, offer you ONE COMPLIMENTARY psychosomatic + Organizing Field™ session.

This is to support you in starting to discover where you are at in relationship to your body.

Here, we help you develop an even deeper connection with your own SOMA, your body, and the wisdom and information it is carrying for you—sometimes unconsciously.

Developing a deeper connection to this, essentially, allows you to find a better relationship to self, which allows you to ultimately connect with your partner in a meaningful way.

This is my last POST about this program that STARTS on the 13th of September. If you are interested to joining our beautiful and quality group of lovely souls, you have a last chance to sign up.

Couples Co. founder and owner, Nathasha Beaulieu has written such a beautiful article about her experience with my psychosomatic work on her company’s blog. Feeling blessed! Thank you!

Natasha’s forward thinking and holistic online s*x toy company—Couple Co.—deeply values education and relational depth in her business model and vision. You can see by how she explains her session, how aware and connected she is to a bigger vision of connection and s*xuality, her commitment to loving and successful relationships, and to the awareness of how easy it is to NOT be in our bodies. She really gets the importance of being present in one’s body to make connection possible with another person.

« Here’s the piece that ties directly back to everything we talk about on this blog: you cannot be fully present with a partner if you’re not fully present in your own body. So much of what gets in the way of real intimacy — disconnection, numbness, the sense of going through the motions — traces back to exactly this: a body that’s carrying more than the mind has processed. »

Here are a few perceptive observations she wrote after a Psychosomatic Organizing Field session:

Guided Back Into the Body: What a Somatic Session with Julie Archambault Taught Me About Reconnection

« Somatic work isn’t talk therapy — it’s a return to the body itself.

Here’s what a session with somatic educator Julie Archambault actually involves, and why coming back into your body might be the missing piece in your intimacy and healing.

The Body Keeps What the Mind Tries to Explain Away

« Most of us are experts at talking about our feelings. Far fewer of us are actually in our bodies while we do it. We can narrate an old wound in perfect detail — what happened, why it hurt, what we’ve since learned — while staying completely disconnected from where that wound actually lives: in the shoulders, the jaw, the chest, the breath that never quite settles all the way down.

What do S€x, Chronic Illness, and Leadership all have in common???

They are all EVENTS in the body.

This is why deep psychosomatic awareness can have a big impact on them.

This is how:

Number 1:

S€x is deeply psychosomatic. This is where the psyche, mind, emotions, and sensations become heightened experiences in the body.

This could feel good… or not so good.

For sustainable s€x, one needs deep attunement, presence, and awareness that require cultivation.

When this is achieved, deep nourishing connection is possible for all.

Number 2:

Chronic illness comes from your body not being supported—emotionally, physically, or spiritually—over an extended period of time.

Compensation and dysregulation over long stretches of time means your biology lacks what it needs, resulting in chronic conditions

Through psychosomatic practices, we can access the compensation patterns and enhance the body’s natural propensity for health.

Number 3:

Leadership is posture, nerves, confidence, charisma, self-regulation, clarity, all rooted in the body.

Blocks to leadership are expressed in the body and hold you back.

Leadership blocks get resolved in the body. Awareness is born in the body. When you learn to embody your true power, you make the greatest impact.

Join us for the journey.

“In truth, I hate s€x.”

Very few people know how to truly connect during s€x. The truth is most people don’t know how to truly be with sensations nor emotions in an embodied way even in their day to day lives—WITHOUT adding s*x to the mix.

Bind together two disembodied bodies, surviving the pressures of life, unaware of their unfelt emotions, nor how to feel them, unaware of sensations in their bodies, pepper in their habits of numbing and avoidance, douse it with the intensity of s€x as “hit-driven” or “release-driven” automatic s€x, and s€x becomes a process that ends up making you feel increasingly and unpleasantly disconnected from your body—and of course, from your partner.

No wonder some people admit to me that “In truth, they hate s€x.”

Being disconnected leaves a really unpleasant sensation, that eventually, you are going to want to avoid.

“Disconnect” is a by-product of our very full, oversaturated, frenzied, performance-driven and disembodied society, with all its pressing timelines and over stimulus. But it’s also a by-product of lack of awareness, presence and skill to deal with emotions, with noticing what is there, and to be with sensations as they awaken and blossom in the body.

Your connection to your body is actually your capacity for intimate connection with another.

Most people are very disconnected: they can’t access emotions nor sensations in their bodies. They are in many ways simply cut off or numbed out. Many people have developed strong adaptations to not feel their bodies: overworking, overthinking, care-taking others, numbing, or disengaging all together, are a few examples. Slow S€x

“Receptivity is a powerful state of vitality and presence in which true passion is a surrendring to the genius of nature’s ways. Without the quality of receptivity there is little chance for man to respond in true male dynamic fashion...”—“Slow S*x,” Diana Richardson

On Slow S€X

I found Diana Richardson’s book on “Slow S*x” as I was researching questions for my next book. As my husband and I started studying it together, we were getting into so many really interesting conversations and having these beautiful realizations. We also saw how immediately it was impacting our connection during intimacy.

It shifts the whole context.

Then it dawned on me, I betcha so many people would really get a lot out of studying this book with us, and have the same opportunity to engage in these enlightening conversations.

Slowing down is a godsend for s*x. S*x when practiced this way becomes a mindful psychosomatic experience—you know when psychosomatic principles are experienced at the level of art! Moving art! The awareness you cultivate is endless. The issues that seemed so acute suddenly get transformed. Pleasure is experienced in a much greater and expanded way. Awareness is... everything.

We would love to invite you into our upcoming “Slow S*x Book Study” to explore together all the key concepts of Richardson’s seminal work. Each week, we will be taking on a chapter, deepening it together, and having fun talking about this deep and fascinating topic!

If you are interested in joining, you can sign up on our Eventbrite page. The link is in the COMMENTS. Starts soon.

I was feeling this acute feeling of joy and gratefulness as my husband and I were studying this book together: “Slow S€x” by Diana Richardson. I was getting present to how nice it is to have a partner that is “as” (sometimes even “more”) interested than me in deepening these questions.

As we were reading together and then discussing it, watching him so engaged and contemplative, I was getting present to how wonderful it is to deepen questions with someone. As we were working through this book, we were noticing such immediate impact on the quality, presence, and connection of intimacy. It’s like getting on the same wave length, and moving connection, intimate connection, to a whole new space together.

Reconnecting with the value of “slow” is a powerful antidote to this world’s constantly quickening pace, that we just need to keep on coming back to again and again— ie. coming back to presence. When you tap into the power of “slow,” there is so so much that you discover because of it.

I also became present to the fact that so many people would benefit from studying this, as well as having a group of people to talk about it with—feel supported.

And then it dawned on me, why don’t we create a “Slow S€x~Book Study,” so that people can enjoy this deepening process as much as we are. Share the fun and the possibility!

It would be good for couples who want to deepen, but also for those who have partners who may seem less open— and understandably so as it is a vulnerable topic—but who are wanting to deepen their awareness to have a more fulfilling and connected s€x life. It is also helpful for those who are not in relationship, but are yearning for a fulfilling relationship, both emotionally and intimately. Studying these deep topics allows one to tap into this field of information, and start allowing it to come to you.

So are you game to take this topic on? Are you interested in deepening the quality of intimacy in your life?

Join Shawn and myself for our 10-week “Slow S€X~Book Study.” It’s going to be fun, interesting, and awakening! We would love to have you with us on this journey. Reach out if you want m

How Psychosomatic Work helps People with Chronic Fatigue

When we tune in to the body, it speaks…

One pattern that has emerged for people with chronic fatigue is that they are often people with a high level of emotional porosity. Meaning, they are acutely aware of what everyone around them are feeling, everyone’s states of activation, sensitive to the emotional landscape of their environment, like if they were sponges.

And yet, they haven’t found how to establish proper boundaries for themselves.

This zaps their energy.

We have found that by identifying needed boundaries and empowering them to honnour them, huge progress can be made. We have further discovered that in session, when supporting them to go into a deep state of neutrality, the organism becomes more receptive and available to the organizing power of the field. This supports the body’s natural intelligence where the biology can restore, reorganize, and upgrade itself.

The result: People with Chronic Fatigue walk away feeling deeply rejuvenated and restored.

Let’s discover what your body is saying too!

Just noticing that I am feeling ... happy!

Like “happy” in a new way. A kind of happy that just sees what I’ve been through, knows the many moments of resilience I’ve had to dig into. A kind of happy that has danced with the growing pains of individuation... and is coming out the other side like... hey, you can just be you and enjoy it! You don’t need to be anything else... look any different...

Like... look at that little beam of light meeting life, seeking, creating, crying, feeling, overcoming, grieving, yearning, dancing, loving, deepening, expanding... and showing up, over and over again. Look at her doing life her own way. Look at that little beam that doesn’t need to take on anyones projections... and just be her... I cherish her... so happy to be with her!

So happy to be with her.
