Could you separate sun-safety fact from fiction?
From relying on the SPF in make-up to believing a base tan offers protection, common misconceptions can leave our skin more exposed to UV damage.
Remember:
* Check the UV index - not just the temperature.
* Combine sunscreen with shade and protective clothing.
* Choose at least SPF 30 with four or five-star UVA protection.
* Reapply sunscreen regularly and after swimming, sweating or towelling.
* Sun protection can reduce your risk of skin cancer, but it can’t remove it completely.
* Become familiar with your skin and pay attention to anything new, changing or unusual.
If something concerns you, don’t ignore it.
