We stand with the RNLI 💙

At Cariad Care Group, we believe something very simple: a life is a life.

The volunteers of the RNLI represent some of the very best of our society. They leave the safety of the shore and put themselves in harm’s way to save complete strangers, without judgement, fear or favour.
They don’t ask where someone came from, what they believe, or whether others think they are deserving of help.

Someone is in danger. They save them.
That principle should never be controversial.

To see RNLI volunteers and staff subjected to online abuse, and even physical abuse, for carrying out their lifesaving duty is appalling. Those who dedicate their time and risk their own safety to protect human life deserve our gratitude and respect, not intimidation.

Caring for people means recognising the humanity in everyone. It means helping someone when they need you, regardless of who they are.

A life is a life. And when that life is in danger at sea, thank goodness there are RNLI volunteers willing to go out and save it.

🌾 HOW MUCH FIBRE DO WE ACTUALLY NEED?

The recommended daily amount for UK adults is around 30g of fibre a day.

But what does that look like on a plate?

Rather than focusing on numbers, think about including fibre-rich foods throughout the day:

🥣 Porridge or wholegrain cereal at breakfast
🍎 Fruit for a snack
🥪 Wholemeal bread at lunchtime
🥕 Plenty of vegetables with dinner
🫘 Beans, peas or lentils added to meals

For older people receiving care at home, nutrition is an important part of maintaining health, strength and independence.

💚 LET’S TALK ABOUT… GOING TO THE TOILET!

It might not be glamorous, but constipation can have a real impact on someone’s comfort and wellbeing – particularly as we get older.

Getting enough fibre can help keep the digestive system working normally.

Think:
🥣 Porridge
🍐 Pears and other fruits
🥦 Vegetables
🫘 Beans and lentils
🍞 Wholegrain bread

And don’t forget fluids! 💧 When increasing fibre, it’s important to drink enough too.

Good home care isn’t just about the big things. Sometimes noticing changes in appetite, eating, drinking or toilet habits can be just as important.
