Working in partnership to support families and young people in our community 💙

Our Family & Concerned Others Team spent the day at the YMCA in Barry, taking part in the Children & Young Person Hub alongside brilliant colleagues from the Job Centre and the Vale Youth Service.

Collaboration across teams helps create clearer, more accessible support for young people and families.

Our Family & Concerned Others team spent the day at Penarth Carers Event, sharing information, offering support, and building connections with people in our community 💜

It’s always a privilege to meet carers, listen to their experiences, and make sure they know CAVDAS is here for them too.

Volunteering with CAVDAS 🧡

Volunteering with CAVDAS is more than just giving your time, it’s about making a real difference. Our incredible volunteers bring passion, compassion, and dedication to support individuals on their recovery journeys, helping to inspire hope and create meaningful change within our communities.

We are also proud to be developing a new Lived Experience Volunteer Pathway, which places a strong focus on volunteer wellbeing, growth, and personal development.

Whether it’s supporting group work, delivering peer-led sessions, or helping individuals take their first steps towards recovery, every volunteer plays a vital role in what we do. At CAVDAS, we are committed to supporting our volunteers to grow, develop new skills, and build confidence along the way.

💡 You don’t need lived experience of substance use to volunteer with us.
Are you looking to give your time in a meaningful way? Hoping to upskill or explore a career within substance use services? Volunteering with CAVDAS can be the first step into a rewarding role, offering valuable experience, development opportunities, and the chance to make a genuine difference.

✨ Exciting news!
Keep an eye out for our upcoming Volunteer Recruitment Drive, where we’ll be introducing new, strand-specific roles designed to support individual development and provide tailored volunteering opportunities across our services.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, now is the perfect time to get involved and be part of something truly impactful.

Celebrating Our Volunteers 💜

We are proud to support volunteers, many with lived or familial experience, who have gone on to become valued members of our workforce, helping us grow and strengthen our services.

Benjamin P initially joined us through the Pilot EDIR project in the Vale, through his dedication and hard work, he has successfully progressed into a role within our Peer Recovery and Aftercare Team.

Alex began her volunteering journey as a VAC Representative before moving into volunteering with CAVDAS. She has been an incredible support to our Homeless and Assertive Outreach (HAO) Team, with her contribution playing a key role in supporting the s*x work community, working alongside Safer Wales and contributing to the EDIR project. Through her dedication and passion, Alex has made a real difference within the communities we serve. More recently, she applied for a full-time role within the HAO Team and has successfully been appointed.

Benjamin B has supported CAVDAS in a range of volunteering roles, with much of his time dedicated to our fantastic Children and Young People (CYP) Team. He came into volunteering with a genuine passion for the work we do and the people we support. Volunteering played an important part in Benjamin’s journey, helping him rebuild confidence and develop his skills as he worked towards returning to employment. Through his commitment, Benjamin secured a role within the Vale Pilot EDIR project alongside Benjamin P. More recently, he has successfully interviewed for a role within the EUASP.

Will began his volunteering journey in the Vale, supporting our Harm Reduction Lead, Laura, with outreach work. He then went on to support the Cardiff Homeless and Assertive Outreach (HAO) Team, working alongside Peer Navigators to reach and support individuals within the community. Through his dedication and passion, Will successfully secured a full-time role as a Peer Navigator within the HAO Team. He is now playing a key role in expanding our reach and strengthening support for people within Cardiff’s homeless communities.

Meet Lloyd!

Lloyd is a valued member of our CAVDAS volunteering team, supporting behind the scenes in a vital non-front-facing role. He works closely with our Data Analyst Lead, helping to ensure that we are recording and reporting accurate data, as well as supporting the ongoing development of systems that help improve our services.

Not all volunteer roles at CAVDAS involve direct work with service users, but every role is just as important. Lloyd’s contribution plays a key part in helping us understand our impact, improve our delivery, and continue to grow as an organisation.
