A big thank you Andrew Jenkins for sending me this.

I was very lucky to invited as a guest speaker at MHWShow2026 Mental Health & Wellbeing Show The Ajuda Foundation Dawn Evans talking about the importance of physical and mental health with dads

Big thanks to everyone who attended my talk in the morning - we covered some big topics but also had a laugh and brilliant audience answers throughout.

Also, amazing to catch up with so many people on the day 🙌🏾

❗️PARTICIPANTS NEEDED- DADS WANTED❗️Are you a UK-based father from a mixed-heritage/global majority/ethnic minority background?

I am looking to speak with UK-based mixed-heritage/global majority/ethnic minority fathers for my study exploring experiences of emotional help-seeking during the perinatal period (from pregnancy to one year postpartum).

This will involve an hour-long online interview about your experiences of fatherhood. You do not need to have accessed any support to take part; I’m interested in your emotional experiences as a new father and any barriers you may have faced in accessing formal or informal support. Your kids can also be of any age.

Please use the following link for more information on the study: https://tinyurl.com/ymwdbf84 or scan the QR code on the poster!

Global majority refers to people who are of African, Asian, Latin American, Caribbean or Indigenous descent, dual heritage, mixed-heritage, or anyone racialised as an ethnic minority.

If you would like to take part, please get in touch via email: [email protected]

Please also share with your networks and anyone who may be interested in taking part! Screenshot 2026-05-18 at 17.08.05.png

Thanks

How can parents support their teenagers effectively without losing sight of their own wellbeing?

Wendy Gardner and Jacob Guy both offered their insights into the importance of mothers’ and fathers’ roles, and the importance of parents protecting their own wellbeing during their child’s adolescent journey.

Jacob’s (JSG Health for Dads) session, “Empowering dads to be their best”, explored the vital importance of fathers’ mental and physical health, and the powerful role dads play as positive role models.

Wendy’s talk, “Breaking the Cycle: Presence-Based Parenting for the Adolescent Years”, explored how adolescence is often described as a turbulent stage, but in truth, it is a transformational one. Young people are not simply growing; they are forming the foundations of identity, emotional regulation, and self-belief.

Together, they contributed to a panel exploring the emotional realities of modern parenting, offering practical strategies to manage stress, strengthen resilience, and support parents’ and carers’ own wellbeing while raising teenagers😊
