Yesterday I loved seeing so many dogs and their humans enjoying themselves together at the Holymoorside Gala; the excitement, the fun, the wagging tails and all that fantastic connection. ❤️
But it also got me thinking…
We expect our dogs to be 'on' an awful lot.
Come here.
Watch this.
Let's go for a walk.
Let's play.
Meet this person.
Say hello to this dog.
Go to training.
Come to the show.
Do the thing. 🐶
And sometimes, what they really need is permission to simply switch off.
No expectations.
No stimulation.
No commands.
Just quiet, calm and the opportunity to rest.
Because downtime isn't laziness, it's part of wellbeing as much as we need to recoup after a busy day..
And just like us, dogs can benefit from having space to decompress, settle their nervous system and simply be.
That's one of the things I love about animal healing. It creates a calm, peaceful space where your dog doesn't have to perform, achieve or be anything other than exactly who they are.
So today, after a busy weekend, perhaps give your dog the gift of doing absolutely nothing.
A quiet room.
A comfy bed.
A gentle stroke.
Some peaceful time together.
And notice what happens when you give them permission to switch off. 💜
I feel it myself today, so I'm sure all the doggies who had a full on day yesterday feel the same!
🐾 September Healing Hounds offer 🐾
If your dog (and/or you) could use a little calm, rest and reset, I'm offering £10 off an Animal Healing session for new clients booked during September.
Sometimes the best thing we can give our dogs isn't more…
Its less..
