I'm 50 and I've just come off my best festival season yet. 🔥

This goes to the fields. Sundara. Q***r Spirit. Rainbow Summer Camp. 🏕️

Thank you for having me.

For giving me a space, a slot, a corner of a field, and trusting me to hold it. 🙏

I led morning meditations while the dew was still on the grass. Taught Pure Meditation to people who'd never sat still on purpose in their lives. Ran workshops on gender diversity science and intersectionality. And gave Acumassage to bodies that had been carrying things for a very long time. 💫

Some of those sessions I will not forget.

But honestly, the thing I'm most grateful for is the people. 🤍 The ones who wandered in not knowing what they'd signed up for. The ones who came back the next day and brought a friend. The ones who cried on a massage couch in a tent and then went off to dance until 3am. 😅

Old friends I only ever see in fields. New friends I now can't imagine not knowing. 💚 There's something so special about a field full of people who have all decided, for one week, to just be themselves.

So thank you. All of you. Muddy, glittery, gorgeous lot that you are. 🌞

Who are you grateful for this ?

Most people come back from holidays needing another holiday. And that is not a coincidence.

A holiday and a retreat are not the same thing. Not even close. And understanding the difference might be the most important thing you do for your health this year.

A holiday requires constant decision-making. Where to eat. What to do. Which way to go. It involves social performance, stimulation, often alcohol and disrupted sleep. Uploading photos to social media even. It is enjoyable. It is wonderful. It is absolutely worth doing.

But it is not rest. Not really. Not in the physiological sense.

A retreat removes something completely different. It removes the inputs that demand output from your nervous system.

No roles.

No responsibilities.

No one to show up for but yourself.

No decisions beyond the most basic ones.

And when those demands are removed?

This happens to your body: Cortisol drops significantly. The parasympathetic nervous system finally gets uninterrupted access to its repair function. The fascia softens. The meridians flow more freely. The body begins to process what it has been quietly carrying.

This is why people often cry on retreat. Not because something bad has happened. Because the body finally has space to complete what it started.

I have travelled to 55 countries. I know the difference in my body between coming home from a holiday and coming home from a retreat. They are not comparable. One restores the surface. The other restores the root. 🙏

There are four ways to retreat and they all work differently.

Alone. At a retreat centre. In a group. With a private facilitator. I work with all four.

And if you are ready to understand what your body actually needs right now…

Drop me a message. 🌿

Everything except water is treated as food by your body. 💧

And honestly? This one can change how you think about hydration completely. 🤯

ANYTHING that is not plain water gets processed differently. And is not really any different to having a snack.

Juice. Milk. Squash. Smoothies. Cordial. Even herbal tea!

Your digestive system fires up. Insulin responds. The organs all pile in to deal with it.

That is not hydration. That is eating! 😄🧡

Water sits in a class entirely of its own. The only thing you can take in that hydrates you without asking your body to digest it is water.

And THAT is why it matters so much overnight. 💫

Because something rather brilliant happens while you sleep. It is called autophagy. Auto meaning self. Phagy meaning eating. Your cells literally consuming and clearing out their own damaged material.

Yoshinori Ohsumi won the Nobel Prize in 2016 for working out exactly how it happens. 🔬

But it only kicks in under one condition. The absence of food. The ideal is to give your body roughly 16 hours without eating. 8pm until midday the following day. If you do this, your cells finally get proper uninterrupted time to repair and restore.

Now overlaying this with what Traditional Chinese Medicine says is happening in that exact window. Gallbladder. Liver. Lung. Large Intestine. Stomach. Spleen.

These are the heavy lifters. All doing their deepest work. All night and in the morning too. Clearing and cleansing after yesterday’s consumption.

So during that window, water only.

Not because everything else is bad.

But because everything else is food. And food stops the whole process. Including the clarity and insight the ancients sages held sacresanct!💧

Next time you are thirsty, just notice what you reach for. Water is not simply another drink on the list. It is in a category of it’s own and the best thing to rehydrate with. Full stop, no exceptions. 🚰

Everything you learned about anatomy was based on dead tissue.

Let that sink in for a moment. 🤯

When Dr. Jean-Claude Guimberteau became the first surgeon to film inside a living human body he did not find what the textbooks showed. Not separate structures in tidy layers. Everything connected to everything. One single shimmering liquid crystal web.

Pulsing. Fluid. Alive. ✨

Yes, it looks exactly as the meridian system describes.

Because the Primo Vascular System, confirmed by Seoul National University in 2002, found microscopic structures running through the fascia that correspond precisely to the meridian maps used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for thousands of years.

The ancients did not have microscopes. They had something we have almost entirely lost. The ability to pay extraordinary attention to the living body. 🙏 And what they mapped was real. The map was always there.

We just had to learn to look at living tissue to finally see it. 👀

Nothing on this path is in a hurry. 🌿

And nothing on it is behind.

This is the Forest of Dean last week. Despite the heat, and scorching ground across the land, there were still patches of green, deep in the Forest, on shady paths.

Give me 90 seconds. Not scrolling. Actually watching. Here's what starts happening while you do.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine we'd call the way most of us live pure Yang. Heat. Push. Forward. Doing. Yang is not the enemy. You need it. But Yang without Yin burns through you. 🔥 And the West has built almost nothing that teaches the Yin.

Slow. Cool. Still. Receiving. This path is Yin. The ferns are Yin. Ninety seconds of your attention is Yin. ☯️

Your amygdala, the part of the brain that scans constantly for threat, begins to quieten. Your parasympathetic nervous system starts to engage. Cortisol begins to drop. Your body moves out of alert and back towards regulation. 🧠

Just ferns. 💚

Stay with it. All 90 seconds. 🙏

This I'm grateful for silence. And for the point I recognised needing it didn’t mean something was wrong with me. Because here's what I've found.

Every breakthrough moment I've had came when there was nothing else in the room. 🌿 No noise. No distractions. No interference.

I filled every gap in my diary for years.

And the moment I stopped, my body started talking. 💫

The tiredness I'd been calling normal. The grief I'd filed away for later. The things it had been trying to tell me for decades, while I kept turning up the volume, and piling on the pressure 😅

In Traditional Chinese Medicine Yin represents stillness. Rest. The dark. The part of us that receives rather than produces. The West hands us a thousand ways to be Yang.

Push, achieve, connect, optimise, go. It gives us almost nothing that teaches Yin. ☯️ So this week I'm grateful for realising I needed to schedule regular time for silence. To top up my Yin, to balance my Yang. 🙌

Not just when the diary allows.

But BOOKED IN. Protected. Non-negotiable.

That single commitment has done more for my health than any treatment I've ever had. And I do this for a living. 😂

When did you last let yourself stop? Like REALLY stop every thing, and just be, by yourself? What’s your relationship with silence?

I’m so excited to be offering training again this Autumn, on my approach to TCM - the Four Functions Framework.

TCM is AMAZING, and in my opinion, holds the key to simple and effective self-help Health and Wellness.

Far too many people give up on TCM because it’s so complicated. And I don’t blame them.

Understanding the Meridian System is an essential baseline, a foundation stone that simply must be there.

So I found a way to make it simple.

Once that piece of the TCM puzzle is in place, the rest can be easily added to it.

The Four Functions Framework groups the 12 main meridians into four clear groups. By what they do, where they run, and the organs they belong to. A clear structure that’s really easy to remember for Western minds. 🌿

This next training will be six days, in person, in the Forest of Dean. 🏡

You CAN just attend Part One… where I introduce TCM, the Meridian System, the Horary Sequence, the Four Functions Framework, and some simple protocols you can use on yourself straight away.

But if you’re wanting to get really serious about TCM, and potentially use it with friends, family or clients, I’d advise coming for both.

In Part Two we get into Extraordinary Meridians, Mu and Shu Points, and look at how the Four Functions Framework works alongside Five Element Theory, with additional key points, and more detailed protocols.

You'll leave knowing where all 12 meridians start and end, the points that matter most on each, and how to work with them. On yourself and on other people. 🙌

Beginner to mid-level. No TCM experience needed (although if you have some, this will give you an interesting new lens!).

Places are limited, to ensure plenty of time for individual questions and attention during the hands on sessions.

£295 Part One. £295 Part Two. Or £555 for both, paid in full upfront. Just 20% deposit to reserved your spot now, or pay in full straight away if you prefer.

See my website for more details (👇).

Or just message me. 💫

I love teaching all of this! And can’t wait to see who will be joining me. 😀

Modern medicine gives people two things they love. No blame and a quick solution. 💊

Root cause healing gives people two things they hate. Action and responsibility. 🌿

And honestly? That tension is real. I am not anti western medicine. I go to the doctor when I need to. There have been times in my life when medication was the right choice and I have no shame about that.

But I see something again and again in the people who come to me. They have been told the problem is in their genes. Their hormones. Their age. Their bad luck.

Take this. Come back in three months. 😮‍💨

And the lifestyle, the inputs, the daily habits that may be sustaining the very thing they want to heal? Completely untouched.

Root cause healing asks different questions.

What are you eating?

How are you sleeping?

What is your stress load?

What are your inputs doing to your outputs?

Is the inflammation in your body being fed every single day?

These are not comfortable questions. They put something in the person's hands. And a lot of people find that genuinely confronting and even offensive.

But…that discomfort is also the doorway in Because when you understand the root, you can actually address it.

Not manage it. Address it.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine this has always been the approach. Not suppressing the symptom. Finding where the imbalance began. And restoring flow to the system as a whole.

Both approaches have value. The question is which question you are asking. Are you asking how do I stop feeling this? Or are you asking why am I feeling this in the first place?

If you are ready for the second question, then it’s time to start taking Health and Wellness into your own hands. 🌿

People pay thousands to fly somewhere beautiful. And I get THIS on a Monday morning. 😭✨

The Forest of Dean in full summer light. Moss so green it almost glows. Ancient pines standing completely still. Light finding its way through the canopy and splashing on the forest floor like something out of a dream. 🌿

I never get used to it. Fourteen years of living here and it still stops me completely in my tracks every day I spend here.

Every. Single. Day. 🥹

I did a “Did You Know” post the other day about this. Green sits in the middle of the visible light spectrum and requires the least adjustment from the human eye to process. Your brain reads it as safe. As home. As somewhere your ancestors have always found food, shelter and belonging. 🌳

And those tall straight pines? They are releasing phytoncides into the air right now. Natural antimicrobial compounds that boost your immune system. A single day in forest air can increase your natural killer cell activity by up to 40%.

And the effect lasts for 30 days. 🤯

Thirty days.

From one walk. This is why I leave my phone at home sometimes and just disappear into the trees.

I don’t always have the time but I cannot afford not to.

Today I want to ask you something. When did you last let nature do its thing to your body? Not a quick walk between meetings. Actually being in it.

Unhurried. Present. Receiving. 🌿 Your nervous system is asking for this. Give it what it needs. 😊✨

Everything I do now started with four days of silence. 🤐

Fifteen years ago my (now ex) husband bought me four days of silence for Easter. An incredible gift.

This is for the very first retreat centre I ever went to. The place where all of this began. 💫 And also, to my ex husband Barney for gifting me a silent retreat. ❤️

Both my boys had been born by then. And life as a new parent is absolute chaos. I had this craving for peace. For quiet. To be left completely alone with nobody needing anything from me. 😕

So he booked me onto a silent retreat. I arrived and we were all led to the lounge. Roaring open fire. Comfy sofas. And it was explained how the next few days would work.

No talking. At all.

Unless there is an emergency, and even then, if it’s possible, you write your request on a piece of paper. 🤫

It was extraordinary. Even eating meals in complete silence. Discovering how genuinely possible it is to communicate without words. We only use them because they are easy and they are there. ✨

At the start, quite a lot of their teachings, about balance and self-discipline, didn't really work for me. I was a high-wire, high-flying adrenaline ju**ie at that point. 😄

But I went back. Many times over the following ten years. 🌿 One of the things they offered was learning to meditate properly. A full week in silence on site. No speaking at all except in the sessions with the teacher.

What stands out most now is how I simply hadn’t equated the stress I had been experiencing in my life, and the anxiety and other ‘rollercoaster of emotions’, with the high adrenaline, fast paced lifestyle I was living.

I have trained further since and now teach meditation myself. I have sat for three hours in a single meditation session. Not that I’m suggesting anyone else needs to do that! But because meditation is not about achievement, but rather about training the mind.

Teaching ourselves that we do not have to respond to every single thought that arrives. The mind is FULL of stuff. And we have been conditioned to think think think. Multitask. Never stop.

Mindfulness slows that down. Meditation takes us somewhere else altogether. ✨

And the good news is, I can still have my high adrenaline times. I just need to be sure to balance them out with nervous system resets.

That centre gave me so much. Meditation. Energy management. Stress management. Mindfulness. I have even run three group retreats there myself over the years. 🙏

It has changed hands since and is now under new ownership. If you are curious about experiencing a retreat centre, it is a genuinely cost-effective way in. Details in the comments. 👇

Thank you for the silence. And for everything that came from it. 💜

With very special thanks indeed to Daniel Francis and Christy Rose Casley especially, who were the Centre Managers during the 10 years I visited the Centre.

Christy taught me Pure Meditation, and Daniel taught me the difference between judgement and discernment, amongst many other things. 🙂
