👶 Have you recently had a baby? Your postnatal check is important too! 💕

We would like to remind new mums that your postnatal check is usually due around 6–8 weeks after giving birth.

This appointment is an opportunity to check in on your health and wellbeing following pregnancy and birth. It gives you time to discuss how you are feeling, your recovery, contraception, any concerns you may have, and the support available to you.

💗 We know life with a new baby can be busy, but please remember to look after yourself too.

📞 If you have recently had a baby and have not yet arranged your postnatal check, please contact Clifton Court Medical Practice to book an appointment.

📅 August Bank Holiday Reminder 📅

Just a reminder to our patients that Monday 31st August is a Bank Holiday and the practice will be closed.

💊 Please remember to order any repeat prescriptions you may need in plenty of time before the Bank Holiday weekend.

If you need medical help while we are closed:
🔹 Use NHS 111 online or call 111 for urgent medical advice
🔹 In a life-threatening emergency, always call 999

We will reopen as normal on Tuesday 1st September.

Have you done your bowel cancer screening test?

If you're aged 50–74, you'll receive an NHS bowel cancer screening kit through the post every 2 years.

It only takes a few minutes to complete at home, and returning your kit can help detect bowel cancer early – often before symptoms develop, when treatment is most effective.

✅ When your kit arrives, put it by the loo so you don't forget. Don't put it off – it could save your life.

If you think you're eligible for bowel cancer screening but you've not been invited, or had your test kit, call the bowel cancer screening helpline on 0800 707 6060.

Could the WorkWell Programme help you?

Are you struggling to stay in work because of a physical or mental health condition? Or have you had to leave work recently due to your health?

The WorkWell Programme provides support to help people manage their health and remain in, or return to employment.
You may be eligible if you:
✔️ Are aged 18–64 years
✔️ Are currently in work or have left work within the last 6 months
✔️ Have a health condition that is contributing to time off work or could lead to long-term sickness absence if left unaddressed

The service can provide personalised support to help you improve your health, wellbeing and confidence, with the aim of helping you stay in or return to work.

If you think you meet the criteria and would like to find out more, please contact Clifton Court Medical Practice. Our Care Co-ordinator team will be happy to discuss the service with you and, if appropriate, make a referral.

Some really positive news!!

The HPV vaccine is saving lives.

New research by Queen Mary University of London and Cancer Research UK shows deaths have fallen sharply since school-age girls began being offered it in 2008, and around 200 lives have been saved in England so far thanks to the vaccine.

The vaccine protects against high-risk HPV, a virus that can lead to cervical cancer and some other cancers.

Both girls and boys can get protection from high-risk HPV by having the HPV vaccination in their teenage years. It not only protects against cervical cancer, but other types of cancer too.

You can help protect your child by giving consent for them to have their vaccination when invited.

And remember: cervical screening is still important, even if you’ve had the HPV vaccine.
