I was pleased to be invited to be part of this Pain Concern podcast as it brings together two of the most important things in my life and journey with chronic pain - feeling connected to nature and mindfulness. Join us as we slow down and explore the beautiful Craigmillar Castle Park with Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust.
Check out the offerings from my wonderful community and training organisation Mindfulness Association who have free meditation sessions every week day and often run online courses or retreats that combine nature and mindfulness.
Being in, or tuning in to the nature around us (can be as simple as spending time with your houseplants or a plant growing in a crack in the path, listening to birdsong, being grateful for the things we eat, or watching a nature programme) helps calm our stress responses and can be a gateway to finding mindful pauses in our day.
Feeling grateful for the small moments of beauty in each day 💚
Are you ready to try the healing power of nature?
Many will agree with the statement that embracing nature can help us feel more refreshed.
However, did you know that experts are now claiming that this is restorative too? Dr Sam Hughes discusses how when we joyfully experience nature, it’s possible that a process of suppression takes place regarding our pain levels.
Whether it’s experiencing nature firsthand or using virtual reality headsets, nature's connection to diminishing pain is waiting to be explored further.
