Finding the quiet mind.
Meditations are now readily available in every possible shape, size and format.
I find though that sometimes I can find some of them to be a bit pressurised.
I might be so focused on trying to do it all correctly that small things can be an instant distraction and annoyance. Maybe they don’t allow enough time for the information I’m receiving to fully come through before they try to move you on to the next step. Maybe they're asking for you to think of too much detail and process.
Then I realised, just stop forcing it. Simplify it.
Finding a quiet mind should actually be easy. We just happen to live in a very stimulating world now and have often forgotten the wonderfulness of a quiet mind.
Consider the things, places, actions or interactions that relax you.
Is it sitting in the garden listening to life around you like the birds, the sea, the wind?
Maybe it’s listening to the tick of the clock in your home.
Taking some uninterrupted time to have a bath.
Just lying on the floor with no demands and no time constraints.
Allow these things to be enjoyed, heard, felt.
These are the things that make you happy so just take some time to enjoy them.
Give yourself the time, knowing that for a while, you have nothing else to do, nowhere else to be that is more important than being right there in that moment for as long as you want to be.
As you allow your mind to quieten, feel the stresses and strains fall away. Allow your nervous system to calm. Allow that clarity that you’ve been looking for to come forward. Allow inspiration to be heard if it’s needed.
All too often we look for external assistance and answers where in fact, they are inside us waiting to be heard if we just take the time to listen.
