Millions of women in England are to be offered HPV self-testing kits as a new NHS service rolls out from today.

The kits will be offered to those who haven’t attended cervical screening following previous invitations, providing a discreet and convenient way to test for high-risk HPV at home.

Nearly four million women are not up to date with cervical screening. The rollout is the next major step towards the NHS' ambition to eliminate cervical cancer by 2040.

β˜€οΈ Hottest day of the year? That didn't stop our Community Sports Day! πŸ’ͺ⚽

On Wednesday 12 August, the Calderdale Cancer Aware (CCA) team brought families together at The Outback Community Kitchen & Garden for a fantastic day of sport, activity and connection, funded by Active Calderdale

Despite the soaring temperatures, families came along and got stuck into the activities we had organised – proving that a little sunshine wasn't going to get in the way of a great day! πŸŒžπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ

The day was also about much more than sport. πŸ’™

πŸŽ—οΈ 4 new Cancer Champions signed up with CCA
🌸 A couple of women joined our new Sehat Sisters programme
🧠 CAMHS came along to share information about the support they offer
πŸ’š Calderdale Council's Better Living Service was also there to talk about local health and wellbeing support

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, got involved and helped make the day such a success – and to Active Calderdale for funding the event.

It was a brilliant example of how bringing people together through fun, accessible activities can open the door to conversations about health, wellbeing and support. πŸ’™

Yesterday was all about celebrating the people who make our work possible! 🌊

We took 8 of our amazing cancer champions out for a truly unique cultural day out: a beautiful afternoon on a canal boat. From steering the barge to rolling up our sleeves to work the locks, everyone got stuck in! We topped off the day with a lovely afternoon tea together and made some once-in-a-lifetime memories. πŸ«–βœ¨

This wonderful experience was provided by the Safe Anchor Trust , an incredible, volunteer-led small boat charity. They do vital work providing free, therapeutic canal trips to underserved and disadvantaged groups across our communities.

To show our deep appreciation, earlier this year we won some money from VAC - Improving Local Lives that we used to make a donation to support their boats and keep these accessible trips running.

Join us in saying a massive thank you to our cancer champions in the comments, and check out the Safe Anchor Trust to see the amazing work they do! πŸ‘‡

🎱 More than just a game of pool.

The CCA Cup brought men together for an afternoon of friendly competition, conversation and connectionβ€”using sport as a way to start important conversations about men's health and cancer awareness.

The event was a fantastic success, with players, supporters and volunteers helping to create a welcoming space where talking about health felt natural, not daunting. It was a reminder that sometimes the biggest conversations start with something as simple as a game of pool.

✨ Chat & Chai – Light Stretching & Yoga ✨

What an amazing turnout for our Light Stretching & Yoga session! πŸŒΏπŸ’š It was wonderful to see so many ladies come together in the Outback Garden, enjoying some gentle movement, stretching, and taking time to relax and look after their wellbeing.

A huge thank you to Alida for leading such a fantastic yoga and light stretching session. Your energy, encouragement, and guidance made it such an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Seeing so many smiling faces and everyone leaving feeling refreshed reminds us just how important it is to take time for ourselves. πŸ’š

🎱 What a fantastic afternoon at Halifax Snooker Club yesterday!

It was brilliant to see so many men come together, not just to enjoy a great game of pool, but to have open and honest conversations about their health. From discussing difficult topics to supporting one another, it was a reminder of how important these spaces are for bringing people together.

The inaugural CCA Cup was played in fantastic spirit, with some excellent matches throughout the tournament.

A huge congratulations to Nasir and Asim for reaching the final, and an extra special well done to Nasir, who made history by becoming the very first CCA Cup Champion! πŸ†πŸŽ‰

A massive thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a success. Here’s to many more events that combine friendship, community and positive conversations about men’s health. πŸ’™
