📢 Notice to Patients

Due to an essential I.T. system upgrade, the GP dispensary will be unavailable from 10:30am to 2:00pm on Friday 12 June.

During this time, we will be unable to process any dispensing requests from the dispensary. If you require an urgent prescription during this time we will print the prescription for you to take to another pharmacy.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we carry out these improvements.

🩺 WE’RE HIRING – MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST/ADMINISTRATOR
We’re looking for a friendly, organised Medical Receptionist/Administrator to join our busy practice.
⏰ Hours: Part time-
Monday 14:00-18:00
Tuesday 13:30-18:30
Wednesday 13:30-18:30
Total 14 hours with some flexibility to help cover holidays/sickness when needed.
Duties include patient reception, booking appointments, phone enquiries, and admin support.
✔ Good communication & IT skills
✔ Professional and reliable
✔ Reception/healthcare experience preferred
Please note if you are a registered patient here you would need to register at another practice.

🦟 Blandford Fly Bites – What You Need to Know

The Blandford fly is a tiny (2–3mm) black fly that can deliver a very painful bite, especially during May & June. They’re commonly found near rivers, streams, and even garden water features.

⚠️ Symptoms
• Painful bite (often on lower legs)
• Swelling, redness & itching
• Blisters (sometimes large)
• Possible fever, joint pain, or severe irritation

🛡️ How to Avoid Bites
• Cover your legs (long trousers, socks)
• Use insect repellent (look for DEET)
• Avoid insect swarms
• Use nets for babies & young children

💊 If You Get Bitten
• Wash with soap & water
• DO NOT scratch
• Apply a cold compress
• Take antihistamines (e.g. cetirizine or loratadine)
• Use pain relief (paracetamol or ibuprofen)
• Hydrocortisone cream can help inflammation

🚨 Get Medical Advice (NHS 111 / GP) if:
• Swelling or redness spreads
• High fever develops
• Symptoms last more than a few days

🚑 Call 999 immediately if:
• Breathing difficulty
• Swelling of face/tongue
• Chest pain or dizziness

Please note that our GP practice will be closed over the Easter bank holiday period.

📅 Closed: Good Friday and Easter Monday
📅 Reopening: We will reopen as normal on Tuesday

Meningitis B..........we are receiving lots of enquiries about this, please see below information we have received from Public Health

Public Health Update – Meningitis B

We are aware of recent national reports of Meningitis B.
At this time, there is no impact on our local area, and we are waiting for official advice from the government. We will update you as soon as guidance is issued.
General symptoms of Meningitis B can include:

• Fever
• Severe headache
• Vomiting
• Stiff neck
• Sensitivity to light
• Drowsiness or confusion
• A rash that does not fade when pressed (this may not always appear)

Babies may show different signs, such as poor feeding, irritability, floppiness, cold hands/feet, or difficulty waking.
If you are feeling unwell or are worried about symptoms, please contact the practice so we can arrange for you to speak with a clinician.
For urgent concerns, please contact NHS 111.
Reception staff cannot give medical advice, but they will help direct you to the right support.
