The CQC has introduced a new assessment approach for lower risk GP practices. It's designed to increase contact with practices that haven't been visited for several years, while remaining proportionate and focused.

What this new assessment involves:
📅 Short notice ahead of a site visit
📋 A focus on non‑clinical quality statements
🏥 Coverage across all five key CQC domains
🔍 Reassurance, not fault‑finding

Although these practices are considered lower risk, preparation still matters. Understanding the process helps avoid surprises and reduces pressure on teams.
