Isaac’s journey is one of determination, resilience and amazing progress 🌟

Isaac is a charming and inspirational young man with cerebral palsy who has benefited from a multidisciplinary therapeutic approach in his rehabilitation journey 🥼

Following his SDR surgery in 2019, a procedure designed to reduce spasticity in children with CP, Isaac received intensive physiotherapy through statutory services alongside targeted independent provision. By working closely with the NHS team and following his orthopaedic post-operative guidance, his rehabilitation programme was tailored to help him achieve the best possible outcomes.

Through a combination of hydrotherapy, land-based therapy, support within his educational setting and intervention at home, Isaac has made meaningful physical and functional gains, alongside improvements in his overall motor function.

His progress has been phenomenal, and his determination and commitment to therapy have been a huge part of that success ✨

The Healing Touch Rehab team was at the British Association of Brain Injury and Complex Case Management (BABICM) Conference this week, joining professionals from across the brain injury and rehabilitation sector to mark 30 years of the British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers 🎉

The programme was a strong one: sessions on Paediatric Neurorehabilitation and Integrating Innovation and The Frontal Lobe Paradox Field Guide by Dr Ben Marram were particular highlights, both packed with insight and plenty to take back to our work with clients.

What always stands out at events like this is the quality of the conversations. The brain injury and case management community is one that genuinely shares knowledge, supports one another, and keeps pushing for better outcomes for the people they serve. That collaborative spirit is something we value deeply at Healing Touch Rehab.

Congratulations to BABICM on 30 years, and thank you to the organisers for putting together such a well-rounded and energising event 💙

Earlier this month, we were proud to host a Yorkshire Acquired Brain Injury Forum (YABIF) event at Healing Touch Rehab, bringing together clinicians, legal professionals and specialist colleagues.

It was an evening focused on paediatric early intervention and the safeguarding implications when that intervention is delayed 💙

Our Clinical Director, Kay Ganguly, presented on the importance of early intervention in protecting against unavoidable harm for children with complex disabilities, and the conversations throughout the evening reflected just how much shared commitment there is across our sector to protecting futures and supporting families.

What made the evening so valuable was the mix of people in the room. When clinicians, legal professionals and other specialists share knowledge and strengthen relationships in this way, it creates a much stronger foundation for the children and families who need joined-up, coordinated support.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended and contributed 🙏

We've written about the evening in our latest blog, read it at the link below ⬇️

We know that the strongest progress happens when care is joined up, intentional, and truly centred around the child 💙

Child’s development doesn’t happen in isolated parts, it is a connected process. Movement, regulation, attention, and confidence all influence one another every single day.

This is reflected in the close integration between our Paediatric Sensory Occupational Therapy and Paediatric Physiotherapy provision, creating a joined-up pathway of care.

🩻 Paediatric Physiotherapy builds the physical foundations, strength, balance, posture, and mobility. These are the essential building blocks that support a child to roll, sit, stand, and move through their environment.

🥼 Paediatric Sensory Occupational Therapy then builds on this foundation supporting how the child processes sensory information, develops fine motor control, plans movements, and applies these skills in real-world daily activities.

When these two disciplines work together, something powerful happens, support becomes joined-up, and progress becomes functional.

This integrated approach helps children not just develop skills, but use them with greater confidence, regulation, and independence in everyday life.

Meaningful rehabilitation isn’t about isolated gains. It’s about helping a child feel more capable in the moments that matter most.

Last month, we delivered our Vestibular Rehabilitation training session, and the feedback from attendees was fantastic ✨

Vestibular dysfunction is far more common in neurological conditions than is often recognised. When left unidentified, it can have a significant impact on a person’s balance, coordination, vision, confidence, and ability to engage in everyday life.

For case managers and professionals supporting individuals following neurological injury or illness, understanding the signs and symptoms can make a real difference to the referrals, interventions, and support pathways put in place.

Attendees came away with a clearer understanding of how vestibular pathways can be affected following acquired brain injury, alongside practical tools to help identify when vestibular rehabilitation may be appropriate for a client.

The feedback reflected just how valuable that practical focus was:
💬 “Really interesting subject and the checklist of symptoms to observe for will really be helpful, especially for INAs.”
💬 “Brilliant session, really helpful. Very relevant to case managers.”

If you work with clients who have experienced neurological injury or illness and would like to learn more about vestibular rehabilitation or attend a future training session, we would be delighted to welcome you to our future event.

What a fantastic YABIF event hosted at Healing Touch Rehab centre yesterday! Such a privilege to present on paediatric early intervention and the legal safeguarding issues surrounding children with acquired brain injuries.

The room was filled with people who genuinely care. Professionals who understand that rehabilitation is not just about treatment plans and timelines, it is about protecting futures, rebuilding confidence, supporting families, and giving children every possible opportunity to thrive long term!

Speaking to such a receptive and passionate audience was incredibly energising. The conversations throughout the evening reinforced just how important collaboration is in delivering meaningful outcomes for children with complex needs 📈

It was brilliant to reconnect with familiar faces and make new connections with people equally committed to advancing paediatric rehabilitation and safeguarding standards. Those meaningful conversations and shared values are what continue to drive positive change across our sector 💫

A huge thank you to the organisers Lauren Atkinson, Phillipa Parnell and everyone who attended and contributed to such an impactful event United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum ☺️
