One simple fine motor tip to try at home this week 👏

Using everyday activities is a great way to build hand strength, coordination, and control without needing special equipment.

Try this: Clothes Peg Game

Ask your child to use their thumb and fingers to squeeze pegs onto the edge of a box, card, or even a piece of fabric 👕📦

This helps develop hand strength, finger isolation and control, and coordination for skills like writing and dressing ✏️

To make it easier, start with softer pegs or place the item at a comfortable height. To make it more challenging, use stronger pegs or ask them to match colours or patterns while they clip 🎨

Small, repeated activities like this build the foundations for everyday independence.

We had such a lovely morning last week delivering a bespoke sensory training session for a local school 💚

They'd recently had a brand new sensory room installed and wanted to get a deeper understanding of sensory needs, practical strategies to support their pupils, and how to use their new space and resources as effectively as possible.

We put together a session just for them, a nice mix of theory and practical, and it was a really rewarding couple of hours. The passion and dedication from the staff in the room was just brilliant to see.

If your school would benefit from bespoke sensory training, we'd love to hear from you.

Huff, puff… GO 💨💚

These fun oral motor activities help children develop the strength, coordination and control needed for everyday skills such as eating, drinking and speech development — all through play-based intervention.

Not only are these activoties brilliant for developing breath control and oral motor coordination, but activities like bubbles and blowing games can also be calming and regulating for children with sensory needs.

The best part? The children are having so much fun they don’t even realise how hard they’re working 💚

Which activity would your child enjoy most? 👀

Making small changes in the classroom can make a big difference to how children learn, access, and engage with school life.

We provide in-school training for staff to build confidence and practical skills across a range of OT-informed areas, including pre-writing development, sensory circuits, and fine motor skills.

Our training is designed to help school staff feel empowered to create environments that are more inclusive, responsive, and supportive for all children. This includes understanding how to adapt everyday classroom activities and spaces so that children with a wide range of needs can participate meaningfully and successfully 🏫

We strongly believe inclusion isn’t an add-on, it’s how learning works best for every child 🧠
