For individuals managing frequent headaches or migraines, acute pain relief is an essential resource. However, using these medications too often can inadvertently lock the brain into a chronic daily cycle.

Medication Overuse Headache (MOH) occurs when analgesics or triptans are taken regularly over several months. This constant exposure desensitizes the brain's natural pain-suppression pathways, causing a rebound headache to manifest as the medication clears the bloodstream. Because patients often mistake this withdrawal flare for a new headache and redose, they become trapped in a continuous loop.

Successful management requires patient education, structured withdrawal, and transitioning to evidence-based preventative strategies.

Rather than indicating an increased threat to the general public, a PHEIC status acts as a catalyst for international aid.

Mental health challenges can be deeply masked, meaning early intervention and open communication are critical to catching distress before it escalates. Let's work together to foster environments where seeking help is always prioritized.
