Look Again Explore mindful photography to improve wellbeing, grow resilience and spark regenerative change When we do this, something shifts. It’s subtle, yet powerful.

Welcome to Look Again

We weave together photography, mindfulness and nature connection to help people slow down, look and look again to see the present with fresh eyes. Our evidence-based methodology has benefited thousands of people around the world and our approach is recognised as an accessible and transformational intervention for personal, community and organisational development. In 2024, we were honoured with the Innovations in Mindfulness Award, for our training programme 'Working with Mindful Photography'. By blending imagination, creativity, and learning from nature, mindful photography is a type of therapeutic photography based on the foundations of mindfulness practice. It’s not about the tech or the outcome - how ‘good’ the photography is. It’s about the process of looking and seeing differently, with curiosity, compassion, gratitude, non-judgment, and trust. To date, over 170 practitioners across 30+ countries have trained with Look Again, applying the creative, nature-connected approach to support mental health, climate resilience, trauma recovery and individual and community wellbeing. Supporting practitioners, leaders and changemakers to do what they do best. We offer in-person and online mindful photography workshops, courses, retreats and training. When a shared vision becomes reality…

About six months ago, Look Again imagined what a meaningful photography for wellbeing community-based partnership project in Newtown, Wales, might look like: an arts organisation, statutory services and a health-related organisation coming together to respond creatively to a local need through a mindful photography project.

We now have the joy of seeing that vision become reality. And we're absolutely thrilled!

Our Director Ruth Davey is working with an incredible team - Kate Tucker from Mindfulness Wales / Meddylgarwch Cymru, Kate Morgan-Clare from Oriel Davies, and Donna Jenkins from Powys Together - Powys Ynghyd - to deliver Look Again: See Differently. Connect. Create., an eight-week mindful photography course and exhibition for young people aged 16–25 in Newtown and the surrounding area.

At a time when many young people are navigating grief, anxiety, overwhelm and uncertainty, the project will offer a supportive, creative space to slow down, connect with others and nature, see things differently, and build resilience and hope.

We’re working closely with local referral partners, including Group of Colleges in Newtown, Rekindle, the local NHS CAMHS team, alongside other organisations supporting young people.

It’s been wonderful to see the commitment, generosity and shared purpose that everyone is bringing to this project. Please do spread the word if you support young people in the Newtown area.

Huge gratitude to our funders and supporters: the Ashley Family Foundation, Community Foundation Wales, and Newtown and Llanllwchaiarn Town Council.

For us, this project is about what becomes possible when people and organisations build meaningful relationships, bring their different strengths together, and respond to a community’s needs with creativity and care.

It was also a real privilege to launch Look Again: See Differently, Connect and Create at Newtown College in Mid-Wales last week - a new community partnership project offering a funded 8-week creative mindful photography course to young people aged 16–25.

The project has emerged at a difficult time for the Newtown community, following the heartbreaking loss of a number of young people in the area. The project aims to support those who are navigating grief, anxiety, isolation, overwhelm, and uncertainty.

This project isn't about photography for photography's sake. It's about creating a safe, welcoming and creative space to slow down, breathe, connect and see things differently.

Through photography, time outdoors, nature connection, conversation, and reflection, we'll explore ways of noticing the world around us, seeing ourselves and our experiences from different perspectives, building resilience and creating more hopeful ways of imagining the future.

The project will be based at the Oriel Davies Gallery, with photography walks and activities around the Dolerw Park, the river and town. The course itself will run from November to January, culminating in a public exhibition February to March.

For me, one of the most exciting things about this project is the partnership itself - working with Mindfulness Wales / Meddylgarwch Cymru, Powys County Council's Powys Together - Powys Ynghyd, Oriel Davies, and local organisations supporting young people, alongside the generous support of the Ashley Family Foundation and Community Foundation Wales.

I love building relationships, listening, learning and creating something together in response to a very real local need. I've really felt the warmth, commitment and shared sense of purpose between the people involved.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what emerges and hope this is just the beginning of what we can create together.

Over the past seven months I've been a little quieter than usual. I've been living and travelling in my van around the England-Wales borderlands, giving myself the space to slow down, reflect and ask some important questions about how I want the next chapter of my life and work to look.

Although so much has changed over the past months, one thing has remained constant: When we slow down, pay attention and look again, new possibilities emerge.

I'm delighted to finally share in my newsletter where that journey has been leading...

Here is a summary:

🦋 Relocation to the beautiful borderlands of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Powys.

🦋 Funding for a new mindful photography partnership project supporting young people in Wales.

🦋 An invitation to exhibit and speak to ‘Finding Peace on the Road” at the Images of Peace International Symposium in Poland.

🦋 Next online professional training 'Working with Mindful Photography' training begins 8 October. Early Bird places until 1 September.

What does a hopeful future look like?

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of facilitating four Look Again: Creating Hopeful Futures with Imagination, Mindful Photography, and Nature Connection workshops as part of the in Bath.

Working with both professional practitioners and families with children, we explored four simple questions:

✨ What future do you see if nothing changes?
✨ What future would you like to see?
✨ How can we begin to create that future?
✨ What action will you take?

Using mindful photography, imagination, and connection with nature, participants created visual stories of the futures they hope for and reflected on the small steps they can take to help make them happen.

The workshop offered a glimpse into a deeper two-day training opportunity of learning to look again, see differently, connect with nature, engage our imagination, and use photography to explore and communicate the futures we would like to create, both individually and collectively.

🦋 Do get in touch if you'd like to know more about workshops for your community, workplace, organisation or school.

As I recorded this short video last week, I was sitting in the shade beside an old tree in the small village of Lentwardine, near Ludlow in Shropshire. It was over 30 degrees, and I had taken refuge in the quiet grounds of a beautiful church — surrounded by oak, yew and pine trees, birdsong, distant traffic, and moments of stillness.

Leaning back against the trunk of the tree, I found myself reflecting on the essence of Look Again’s upcoming ‘Creating Hopeful Futures with Mindful Photography’ training programme, beginning on 25 June.

At the heart of this work are some simple yet profound questions:

✨ What is the future?
✨ What does the future look like if nothing changes?
✨ What images come to mind when you think about the future — for yourself, your family, your community, your workplace, our wider society, and our planet?
✨ How do those images make you feel?
✨ What kind of future would you like to see?
✨ What kind of future do you want to help create?

For many of us, the future can feel uncertain, overwhelming, or difficult to imagine. Yet alongside this, there is also a deep longing for futures that are more caring, connected, compassionate and life-giving.

Through mindful photography, visual storytelling and reflective practices, this training explores how imagination, attention and image-making can help us actively shape more hopeful futures — rather than simply accepting the futures that may unfold if nothing changes.

The programme includes five interconnected modules:

🌱 Looking again at the future if nothing changes
🌱 Imagining caring and connected futures
🌱 Seeing for future generations
🌱 Creating hopeful future stories through photography and visual practice
🌱 Practical applications for personal, community and organisational settings

This work is designed to be accessible, inclusive and adaptable — whether you are supporting yourself, your community, your organisation, or the people you work alongside.

To introduce the training, I’m offering a FREE webinar on Monday 8 June:

🕰 12:30–1:30pm (UK time)
🕰 5:00–6:00pm (UK time)

During the webinar I’ll guide a gentle mindful photography practice to support us in meeting uncertainty with greater calm, courage and connection.

The session will also offer practical tools and give a deeper sense of how this work can support more hopeful, nurturing futures for ourselves, our communities and workplaces.

To join the FREE webinar or to find out more about the training, see info in comment below.

I look forward to welcoming you.

Over the past two years, I’ve been learning to trust a path that hasn’t always been clear.

Through woodland walks, time in wild places, and quiet noticing, something has been slowly unfolding — shaping how I live, how I create, and how I guide others through Look Again.

Again and again, I’m reminded that in times of change and uncertainty, we don’t always need answers straight away. What can help is learning how to stay with where we are — and to notice small moments of steadiness and hope along the way.

The work I offer is rooted in paying attention. To place, to feeling, to the small signals that show us where we are, and where we might be heading.

I’ve written a personal reflection in my latest blog post, 'My Unfolding Path', sharing some of these moments — and how they’ve gently revealed something bigger over time.

If you’re moving through change, or simply longing for more space and a sense of hope, I hope it offers a feeling of companionship.

Over the past two years
I’ve been learning to trust a path I couldn’t always see.

Woodland walks.
Wild places.
Quiet noticing.

In times of change and uncertainty,
this practice has become a way of staying grounded —
of finding small, steady moments of hope
in what is already here.

A colour.
A shift in light.
A sense of connection.

Small moments
that slowly reveal something bigger.

This is the story behind the work I offer through Look Again —
a practice of paying attention
to place,
to feeling,
to what’s quietly calling us forward.

I’ve shared a new blog post: My Unfolding Path.

If you’re navigating change
or longing for more space and hope,
I hope it offers gentle companionship.
