As part of our BSL Social evening, we're inviting Deaf people to come along and share their experiences of using BSL Agencies.
🗓️ Friday 4 September
🕖 Bar Open at 6pm
Presentation from 7pm
📍 Manchester Deaf Centre
Whether your experiences have been positive or negative, we'd really like to hear from you. Your feedback will help us better understand what good interpreting services should look like and how they can be improved.
The evening will include:
💬 A relaxed discussion and Q&A
🤝 Time to meet other Deaf people
☕ Refreshments and social time afterwards
If you don't feel comfortable speaking in a group, there will also be an opportunity to share your feedback privately.
🔒 All feedback will be treated confidentially.
No need to book – just turn up!

We’ve got a fun evening planned with opportunities to meet other deaf and hard of hearing young people, make friends, build confidence and learn something new.

✅ All communication methods welcome

🐝✨ Busy Bees Heritage Project: Education Session ✨🐝

What a fantastic first Heritage Project session with our Busy Bees families! We welcomed families to explore Deaf education, Manchester Deaf Centre's 180-year history, and Deaf heritage together.

Children enjoyed designing hearing aids and cochlear implants, making badges, practising the BSL alphabet, and sharing ideas for our heritage timeline display.

We loved seeing children proudly show their hearing aids and cochlear implants, while parents joined in with fingerspelling and discussions about Deaf education.

It was wonderful to see new and existing families connecting, learning together, and celebrating Deaf identity in a fun, welcoming and inclusive environment. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make our first session such a success! 💜

Last week, our Wellbeing Group took part in activities like painting, games, football and country quiz!

The members told us:

“Today was fantastic! Lots of different activities; games, painting, time to talk to each other, lots of drinks and snacks, PERFECT!”

“I really love today! I enjoyed creating my own designs!”

“I enjoyed today! Brilliant! I enjoyed competitive games, I enjoyed chatting and telling jokes!”

“I am very happy and I enjoyed today. I enjoy the art, painting, I want more painting! Also, I enjoyed the drinks and snacks and being with friends!”

I enjoyed today, very happy [with] football game, I did not enjoy Connect 4 game [because] I lost! I enjoyed seeing friends and eating food!”
