Every day's a party!.....

There's singing and dancing every day at Willow Tree House. Our lovely residents and staff love nothing better than to take to the dance floor or have a good old sing-along. This weekend has been no exception. These sessions are great for engaging all our residents and creating that sense of community that we are so proud of at Willow. It's also great exercise and, most importantly, a lot of fun!

Dancing Day at Willow......

Staff gave residents a real treat earlier this week when they gave a performance of some much-loved party dances. They brought back lots of memories for our residents, many of whom joined in or sang along. The session was great for engaging everyone as well as providing some excellent exercise.

Down by the sea......

Willow Tree House held an absolutely fabulous Vintage Seaside Day last week, complete with fancy dress costumes. Too many highlights to mention...the sunshine, the laughs, the costumes, and, of course, the ice cream trolley, complete with every topping you could imagine. The winner of the fancy dress.....was the crab costume, as voted by staff and residents - it was a triumph, as was the whole event. Huge thanks to everyone who put such hard work into it, it was a great success, and everyone had a brilliant time reliving their days by the seaside in years gone past.

The simple things in life.....

Are often the best, and so it is with activities sometimes. A straightforward game of batting balloons with residents produced a lot of laughs. Samson was in charge, and he was struggling along with everyone else to keep the balloons in the air. It really gets some great engagement and loads of smiles.

Beware of loud bangs!

So this game was a new one for us. The aim is to not pop the balloon. You roll the dice, and whatever number comes up is the number of times you have to press the stick into the balloon.
CJ, our activities coordinator, spent the whole time on the edge of his nerves. However, our lovely residents, Sylvia and Elaine, had had a wonderful time - they thought it was huge fun when CJ jumped a mile every time a balloon popped!

Games of long ago......

Many of us take pleasure in remembering some of the games we used to play as kids, and our lovely resident, Helen, is no exception to this rule. She had a great time playing this game with our maintenance man, Neil. It brought back memories and conversations about childhood for many of our residents, who enjoyed watching the fun.

Bedroom Art.....

All our residents love decorating their rooms to make them their own - and what better way to do it than by having your own artwork hanging on the wall. So earlier this week we held a Watercolour painting session, with residents creating their own canvases. There were some lovely pictures painted, and we're sure they will look great on everyone's bedroom walls.

We're having a Holiday!

A virtual trip to the seaside is taking place at Willow Tree House next Friday, 21st August. We're holding a Vintage Seaside Day, and as you can see from the poster, there will be lots of fun to be had. No Seaside Day is complete without Fish & Chips and a Punch & Judy show, and we will have both along with lots of other great attractions, food, and drink. We hope lots of you will come along and join in the fun.

Karaoke Kings & Queens!

Great voices, wonderful songs and a lot of laughs were the order of the day at Willow Tree House yesterday. The Karaoke session we held went down a storm, and our Hairdresser Ruth and Senior Carer Hayley made sure they got their turn too. There was some debate as to who was prime candidate for The Voice, but in the end it was decided everyone should go on! We always enjoy a singalong here at Willow!
