Supporting women considering or going through breast reconstruction surgery, after a diagnosis of br

Keeping Abreast was established in September 2007 by patients Anna Beckingham and Beverley Birritteri and Breast Reconstruction Nurse Specialist Ruth Harcourt. They recognised that there was a great need for women, both newly diagnosed with breast cancer facing the possibility of mastectomy, and also women further down the line who are considering reconstructive surgery, to be able to meet and tal

k to other women who have been through similar experiences. Keeping Abreast offer;
- A national support network
- The opportunity to meet women facing similar issues
- Information, support and practical help
- The chance to see results of reconstructive surgery
- Support for women with the BRCA gene from 'Nick of Time'

Come along to the Woolly Weekend this Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th June at Dilham Village Hall -Norfolk playing field from 10-4pm. There will be crafts, demos, entertainment, homemade cakes, refreshments and more. Plus our lovely supporter Jo will be there with her beautiful craft stall in the Guild Tent raising funds for Keeping Abreast and the Worstead Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers.

It's and we're kicking things off with our new Chair of Trustees, Kerry Kemp! 👏
If you know Keeping Abreast, you more than likely know our lovely Kerry. Having worked in various roles at the charity for over 11 years and counting, Kerry is now taking on a new challenge — chairing our exciting new board of nine trustees — and we honestly couldn't have wished for a better fit.

Speaking of her involvement with the charity, Kerry had this to say:

In her free time, Kerry loves travelling, discovering new destinations, and spending quality time with her two cats and dogs, who are a big part of her life. ⛰️🐼🐈‍⬛
Whilst stepping back from the day-to-day, Kerry will still be heavily involved in driving the charity's mission forward — ensuring we remain people-focused, honest, and ambitious.

✨ Last week, we had the pleasure of visiting our headline sponsors for our More Than Just Fashion Show, the wonderful team at Loveday & Partners - a Titan Wealth Company.

We were warmly welcomed to their beautiful Broadland office to discuss all things fashion show, and we couldn't be more grateful for their support. A huge thank you to Lisa, Jess, Adam, Sue, and the entire team for their commitment to our charity and the women we support. 🩷

We always strive to remain personal with our partnerships, working together to create lasting impact for both sides. Thanks to supporters like Loveday & Partners, our More Than Just Fashion Show continues to grow year after year, empowering women affected by breast cancer and helping us deliver one of our most iconic events taking place at Epic Studios on 20th & 21st October.

When asked what the show means to them, some of our previous models shared:

As we wrap up , we wanted to share just a glimpse of the incredible impact our volunteers have on the lives of those facing breast reconstruction decisions.

Whether someone is deciding if reconstruction is right for them, or navigating the different surgical options available, our volunteers are a true lifeline. They offer understanding, reassurance, and the unique support that comes from lived experience.
From easing fears and answering questions to simply being a kind, listening ear, our volunteers provide trusted advice and emotional support when it’s needed most.
To every one of our volunteers: thank you! Your compassion, generosity, and dedication make a world of difference every single day. 💕

Meet our Trustees! 🩷
Anyone involved in the charity sector will know how important it is to have a team of engaged, caring and talented trustees on board to help drive the charity's mission forward. We're thrilled to welcome our newest trustees to the board, all of whom have been affected in some way by breast cancer and who volunteer their time and talents to support our cause.

Welcome to Nellie, Matt, Karen, Sharon, Nellie, Elsa and Beckie! Thank you to Carina, our returning trustee and to previous Charity Manager, Kerry, who is taking on the role of our new Chair of Trustees.

This week is 💖
As if we ever needed another reason to celebrate our incredible volunteers… but this week gives us the perfect opportunity to shine a light on the amazing people who are truly at the heart of Keeping Abreast.

With more than 200 volunteers across the UK, their compassion, strength and dedication help us support so many people every single day. From providing 1-2-1 phone support, welcoming others at support groups, raising awareness, sharing their own surgery journeys, running raffles and fundraising events — their impact is simply immeasurable.

We could not do what we do without each and every one of them, and we are endlessly grateful for the time, care and kindness they continue to give.
