💡 The simple change to help you get on top of stress!

Feeling exhausted, stressed and overwhelmed 😫 can affect your energy, your focus, even your relationships at home 💔. When that happens, something small needs to shift, and quickly.

Try this simple approach (I did this at my most stressed):

⏰ Set your alarm just 10 minutes earlier than usual.
🚫 Get straight out of bed instead of hitting ‘snooze’.
🧘‍♀️ Spend 20 minutes doing something just for you.

For me, this was yoga, for you it could be reading 📖, meditation 🧘, journalling ✍️, a walk in nature 🌳, music 🎶 - anything you know helps lower your stress.

Repeat it each morning, Monday to Friday.

When I made this shift, I felt:

🌿 Less stressed - having time to do something for myself before anyone else got up was a game changer.
😌 Less overwhelmed - I was starting each day calm and composed.

Getting up earlier when you’re already tired isn’t always easy, but sometimes it’s the simplest way to create space for yourself.

It’s June already! 🌸☀️ Officially the meteorological start of summer in the UK.

The ‘Action for Happiness’ calendar this month is all about JOY. 😄

Did you know that we’re all prone to ‘negativity bias’, our brain's tendency to focus more on the bad stuff than the good? 😕🧠

If this way of thinking becomes a habit, it can start to affect our happiness and wellbeing .💔

Why not make your month more joyful by intentionally focusing on something positive every day in June? The calendar offers a different idea for each day to help you do just that.

One of my favourite ways to switch my mindset is to write down three things that went well each day, just before bed. No matter what kind of day I’ve had, I go to sleep thinking about the best bits. 💖

The more you practise, the easier it gets. 😊

Do you struggle with sleep?

💁🏼‍♀️ Did you know that balancing your blood sugar could help?

📈 High or unbalanced blood sugar has been linked with:

Less deep sleep
More restless sleep
Problems getting to sleep
Anxiety and worry before bed
Night sweats
Snoring and sleep apnea

💡 Not only that, but the relationship works both ways - poor sleep also impacts your blood sugar balance, causing:

Higher cortisol and glucose levels in the morning
Reduced insulin sensitivity

➡️ This means higher stress, more cravings, and bigger blood sugar spikes than after a good sleep.

Which then impacts your sleep more – it's a vicious cycle 😞

Top tips for getting better sleep:

🌤 Get plenty of natural light - get outdoors in the morning

🏃‍♀️Exercise every day - walking, stretching, yoga

☕ Watch your caffeine - No caffeine after 2pm

💡 Dim lights in the evening - Use dimmer switches or side lights instead of the main overhead lights.

📖 Avoid screens before bed - Consider real books or a Kindle.

🧘‍♀️ Take time to wind down - try a warm bath, yoga or meditation

🗞 Don't engage in stimulating activities - no work emails, news or horror films!

🌙 Keep the bedroom dark, quiet, and cool - use blackout blinds, eye mask and ear plugs

⏰ Stick to a consistent sleep schedule - no late nights or lie-ins

Try a simple 7-day sleep experiment:

😌 Choose a quieter week
💛 Treat sleep like an important appointment with yourself
🗓️ Put it in your diary and commit to it properly for one week.

You may be surprised how much easier life feels after a few genuinely restful nights. Better mood, clearer thinking, more patience, more energy… everything feels more manageable when you’re well rested.
