If it's happening to you, or you're worried about someone else, help is available. And you don’t have to wait for an emergency to get help.

Starting solids is an exciting milestone for your baby. Here are five key things to remember when beginning your weaning journey:

✅ Start when your baby is around 6 months old and showing signs they are ready for solid foods
✅ Begin with simple foods and gradually introduce a variety of tastes and textures
✅ Offer a range of foods, including vegetables, fruit, starchy foods and protein-rich foods
✅ Let your baby explore food at their own pace - it can take several tries before they accept a new food
✅ Continue breast milk or first infant formula alongside solid foods during the first year

If your child struggles with hay fever, a few simple steps at home can help reduce symptoms and keep them comfortable during high pollen days:

✅ Keep windows and doors closed where possible
✅ Shower and change clothes after outdoor play
✅ Vacuum regularly and dust with a damp cloth
✅ Avoid drying clothes outside when pollen counts are high
✅ Encourage children to wear sunglasses outdoors to protect their eyes

Common hay fever symptoms include sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, itchy eyes, coughing and tiredness.

If symptoms are affecting your child's daily life, speak to your local pharmacist or GP for advice.

New SEND survey for children and young people

We’re pleased to share that our refreshed Children and Young People’s SEND Survey is now live.

Redesigned with direct input from children and young people through POWAR – our SEND Forum, it’s been shaped to be more accessible, engaging and meaningful. The short questionnaire asks children and young people with SEND about their experiences of support across education, health and care, and how well services are working for them.
