So what a Foot Health Practitioner can do……..

A Foot Health Practitioner carries out a full assessment of the feet and lower limbs to help identify problems, improve comfort and maintain healthy mobility. During an appointment, the practitioner will check the skin, nails, circulation and overall condition of the feet. This can include assessing for corns, callus, cracked heels, fungal infections, ingrown toenails, verrucas and signs of infection or pressure damage.

They will also assess circulation and sensation in the feet to look for signs of vascular disease, diabetes-related complications or nerve damage. Footwear may be examined to ensure proper support and fit, as poorly fitting shoes can contribute to pain and long-term foot problems.

Treatment is tailored to the individual and may include nail care, reduction of hard skin, advice on foot hygiene, footwear recommendations and preventative care to help keep feet healthy, comfortable and pain free. Regular appointments can help detect issues early and reduce the risk of more serious complications developing.

We are training to identify problems before they get life threatening.
Nail cutting goes a lot further in our clinic with

•Skin identification
•Pass and present medical issues and medications.

I’m please to say this patient is now under the wound team, and been referred to the orthopaedics for prescription insoles. If this patient has been left this pressure sore could have opened up, infection set in and worst still losing this toe. Quick action from the team has got him the help they needed.
