What if putting yourself first wasn’t selfish?

What if it was necessary?

So many women have been taught to put everyone else’s needs before their own.

To keep going.

To keep coping.

To keep holding everything together.

And then we wonder why we’re exhausted.

Looking after yourself isn’t selfish.

Rest isn’t selfish.

Boundaries aren’t selfish.

Saying “I need a moment” isn’t selfish.

Maybe the real question is:

When did we start believing it was?

The hidden cost of being the strong one...

People admire you.

People rely on you.

People assume you’re coping.

But what they don’t always see is the pressure that comes with always being the one who holds everything together.

The overthinking.

The responsibility.

The exhaustion.

The feeling that everyone else’s needs come before your own.

Sometimes the strongest women are carrying the heaviest loads.

And sometimes what they need most is permission to put some of that weight down.

Why does rest feel so uncomfortable?

Not because you’re lazy.

Not because you’re unmotivated.

Not because you’re doing life wrong.

Sometimes it’s because you’ve spent so long being busy, responsible and looking after everyone else that slowing down feels unfamiliar.

You sit down.

But your mind keeps going.

Planning.

Organising.

Preparing.

Feeling guilty.

For years I thought I was bad at relaxing.

Now I realise many women simply don’t feel safe enough to fully switch off.

For a long time I thought stress was just part of life.

I thought feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, constantly thinking about work, struggling to switch off and carrying the weight of everyone else was normal.

The truth?

I wasn’t lacking motivation.
I wasn’t lacking discipline.
I wasn’t broken.

My nervous system was stuck in survival mode.

The more I’ve studied subconscious transformation, nervous system regulation and somatic work, the more I’ve realised how many people are walking around carrying stress patterns they don’t even realise they’re carrying.

Patterns that affect:
✨ their health
✨ their relationships
✨ their confidence
✨ their sleep
✨ their business
✨ their happiness

When we feel safe, everything changes.

We think differently.
We feel differently.
We show up differently.

This has become a huge passion of mine and over the coming weeks I’ll be sharing more about what I’ve been creating around helping people move from survival mode back to self.

If I can feel like this, guess what? You can too.

So much of the work I do whether that’s Belief Coding®, nervous system regulation or subconscious healing comes back to one thing:

The body holding onto stress, emotions, fear, pressure and survival patterns for far longer than it was ever meant to.

Because we can understand something logically…
We can know we’re safe…
We can know we need to slow down…
We can know we deserve more…

…but if the nervous system doesn’t feel safe, the body will often keep pulling us back into the same emotional patterns, reactions and cycles.

This is why I’ve started incorporating Subconscious Somatic Release (SSR) breathwork sessions ✨

SSR is a powerful breathwork-based process that helps regulate the nervous system and gently release stored emotional stress and subconscious tension held within the body.

Using conscious connected breathwork, music, guided support and body awareness, these sessions can help people feel lighter, calmer, more grounded and more emotionally free.
