What comes out during your colonic, and why does it make you feel so much better? 🙂💩💧

During a colon hydrotherapy treatment, water will be added through a thin tube to your colon, which will soften matter, and result in water, stool, gas, excess mucus and undigested food being flushed out.

Often, some of this will have been impacted matter that has been stuck, and could have been contributing to bloating, feeling sluggish, slow digestion and other issues, so once removed you’ll often feel so much better.

One questions we often get asked from people who may have been for their first colon hydrotherapy treatment with us is “how will I know I’m ready for another?” And there will be a few signs to watch out for.

1. You may start to feel bloated and can’t seem to get rid of the feeling. Colonics get rid of old waste and toxins which can provide immediate relief to bloating.

2. You may feel as though your digestion has slowed down, or that things are just a bit “sluggish”.

3. If your IBS symptoms have returned, colon hydrotherapy can provide relief.

4. You think you’re allergic to something but aren’t sure what. Having a colonic can give your colon a cleanse so that you can start an elimination diet with a clean slate to try to find out what your body may be intolerant to.

Charcoal Tablets are great for uncomfortable bloating and embarrassing wind, especially after meals. The charcoal works to prevent a build-up of intestinal gas.

Each tablet contains 334mg of activated charcoal, which absorbs impurities in the digestive system, including trapped intestinal gas and hydrogen sulphide – the cause of smelly wind! It may also absorb other toxins which cause gastrointestinal problems, and so can be used as a treatment for IBS when excess wind is present.

Next up in our series of gut health myths is that all bacteria are harmful 🦠

In reality, your gut is home to many millions of microorganisms, and the vast majority are essential for your survival. This mixture of organisms is known as your gut microbiome and it protects you against the harmful bacteria and supports your immune system. We need the good bacteria to get rid of the bad ones!

This is why when we are ill or take antibiotics, sometimes a probiotic is useful to rebalance the good and bad bacteria again.
