Brendoncare Meadway has been specifically designed to enable people in later life to live independent, happy and fulfilling lives. Brendoncare Meadway is a CQC 'Good' rated home with a carehome.co.uk rating of 9/10. With multiple communal areas, Brendoncare Meadway is a happy and comfortable home with kind and compassionate staff dedicated improving the lives and well-being of people in later life.

We were delighted to be invited back to Knightwood, and this time we experienced the thrill of falconry with Lisa from Liberty's Owl Raptor and Reptile Centre.

We had the amazing opportunity to meet some very special feathered and furry friends:

Arthur, the kestrel – just 4 months old
Woody, the tawny owl – 6 years old
Maloo, the peregrine falcon – 15 years old
Frodo, another beautiful owl – 10 years old
Tootsie, an African spotted eagle owl – an incredible 28 years old!
And finally Thorn, an African pygmy hedgehog – just 8 months old!
The residents loved seeing the birds up close, learning all about them and watching them show off their amazing skills. And, of course, Thorn the hedgehog was a huge hit too!
A big thank you to Lisa for such a fascinating and memorable afternoon, and to Knightwood for inviting us once again. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Brendoncare are running a fantastic 30 Day Movement & Exercise Campaign throughout September, encouraging our homes to get moving, have fun and enjoy the many benefits of staying active.
Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome the lovely Jorge from PureGym who put our residents through their paces with a fun, chair-based workout!
We had a fantastic group joining in, including two of our residents who are over 100 years old! Jorge brilliantly adapted the exercises so everyone could comfortably follow along at their own pace.
There were plenty of smiles, lots of movement and, most importantly, everyone agreed it was a great workout!
It just goes to show that age is no barrier to keeping active. Here’s to keeping Meadway moving throughout September.

We had a wonderful afternoon out at Brambridge Park Garden Centre, part of Blue Diamond Garden Centres, where our residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea together.

It was lovely to get out and enjoy a change of scenery, taking in the beautiful surroundings and spending quality time together.

A big thank you to everyone at Brambridge Garden Centre for making our afternoon so enjoyable. We’re already looking forward to our next visit! 🌷💗

Baking Up a Treat!

We’ve been busy baking this morning at Meadway!

Today’s delicious creation was gluten-free flapjacks. Our residents got involved with weighing out all the ingredients, mixing everything together and then pressing the mixture into the baking tray ready for the oven.
I’m reliably informed that they were absolutely delicious!

A New Way to Move!

We had a fantastic visit from Kieran from Visosport. This was a new company for Meadway, and they certainly brought us a very different and exciting way to get moving.
Using bean bags, balls, cones and balloons, our residents took part in lots of fun games, including Bouncing Pyramids, Pinball, Bean Bag Bingo and many more!
We finished with a great game of keeping the balloons up — lots of laughter, teamwork and some very impressive reactions!
Our residents had such a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed trying something new. We’re already looking forward to welcoming Visosport back to Meadway!

Wishing our lovely resident Barbara a very Happy Birthday!

Today was a very special day as we celebrated her birthday with a beautiful cake made especially for her by our wonderful Chef Sue.

Sue made a delicious IDDSI Level 4 modified birthday cake, which was puréed to ensure she could safely enjoy her special treat.

It was lovely to see Barbara joining in with singing “Happy Birthday,” and being made to feel extra special on her big day.

A Furry Visitor at Meadway! 🐾

We had a very special furry visitor this morning when Jeanette brought in her lovely cat, Sally!

Some of our residents came out to meet Sally, while she also enjoyed visiting residents in their rooms. It was wonderful to see the smiles and hear how much everyone enjoyed her company.

Many of our residents miss having animals around, so Sally’s visit brought back lots of lovely memories. We spent time listening to stories about their own beloved pets and the special place they held in their lives. ❤️

A big thank you to Jeanette for bringing Sally in and giving us such a lovely morning of cuddles, memories and companionship. 🐾💕

What a treat this afternoon!

We were delighted to receive another lovely invitation to visit Brendoncare Knightwood, this time for a very special afternoon of music with the incredibly talented harpist, Margaret.

Margaret treated us to a beautiful mix of music, including Bach, Unchained Melody, She, songs from The Phantom of the Opera, as well as some pieces specially written for the harp.
We also learnt lots of fascinating facts about the harp!
A huge thank you to Nisha from Knightwood for inviting us once again, and to Margaret for sharing her wonderful talent with us. Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and it was such a lovely experience.

What a lovely visit from our wonderful Trustees today. They joined our residents for lunch, creating a lovely opportunity to share good food, laughter and plenty of conversation around the table. 🥰🍽️

It was wonderful to see our residents enjoying such meaningful time together, with lots of smiles, stories and warm conversation. ❤️
