Please get in touch if you would like to explore the options available with one of our highly experienced menopause specialists.

Switching off with a good book or two is one of the great pleasures of being on holiday, and Sam is doing just that.

If you're looking for some inspiration, here's her latest book recommendation 📕

'This is absolutely nothing to do with hormones or menopause…

But Bitter Sweet by Hattie Williams is utterly brilliant.

After a good Google, it appears there is no English word that quite describes that very specific feeling: equal parts joy and sadness as you read the final pages of an excellent book, knowing it is nearly over.

Which seems particularly appropriate for a book called Bitter Sweet.

So, I’m proposing we invent one:

Novelstalgia (n.): the bittersweet feeling of already missing a book you haven’t quite finished.

Thoroughly recommend. A perfect holiday companion. 😍

Now I need another holiday book recommendation — what should I read next?'

Knowing when you are on the menopausal journey can be difficult. It can be insidious and creep up on you. 🤔

Some women (about 1%) have a menopause before the age of 40, ie their periods stop. It is really important that these women come forward for help, because having a very early menopause can mean problems later in life.

After the age of 40, it is not uncommon to be in transition.

After the age of 45 there is no point in doing any blood tests to diagnose peri menopause, we know that these women are in their transition and will benefit from help.

However, increasingly, younger women who are in their 30s and still have normal periods, feel tired, exhausted and emotional, and these symptoms could be thought to be menopausal in nature. Some of these might be peri menopausal, but there are other causes too.

The Premenstrual Syndrome or PMDD can create a confusing picture. Stressful lives can cause anxiety and depression. Other unbalanced hormones can also cause confusion.

We need to look at each woman individually, analyse her symptoms and try and work out what is going on. Even if we decide that the symptoms are not menopausal, we can give guidance to try and help.

Individual history taking, careful consideration of the problem = informed choices. 💡

Do you feel like things aren't quite right and you've lost your sparkle? 😔

You may put it down to a multitude of work and life stresses, but could it be the peri menopause or menopause?

Symptoms often creep up on us. We might just put them down to other things going on in our lives, but it can soon become overwhelming.

What should you be aware of?

👉 New symptoms that cannot be explained by anything else
👉 Changing menstrual cycle
👉 Understanding your medical history

Talking to a health professional experienced in menopause can help you unpick what's going on.

Individual history taking, careful consideration of the problem = informed choices. 💡

You may have heard us say this once or twice - we are really passionate about women's health 🔥.

As well as all the women we are privileged to help in our clinics, in private practice and in the the NHS, we are also proud to take our learning and experience into organisations, providing women's health education programmes.

Many organisations recognise the importance of supporting women’s health. Yet despite an abundance of information, many women still feel overwhelmed by conflicting advice around menopause, menstrual health, fertility, sleep, weight, burnout and healthy ageing. The challenge is rarely a lack of information. More often, it’s knowing what matters, what applies to the individual, and how to translate knowledge into meaningful action.

Through our tailored, evidence-based health education programmes, we can help your organisation move beyond awareness alone. We will equip your employees with the knowledge to better understand their health, make informed decisions and feel more confident navigating the different stages of life and work. This benefits both the individual and the organisation - improving wellbeing, performance, engagement and retention.

Drawing on over 60 years of combined clinical experience, we deliver practical, engaging and medically-evidenced education that helps organisations build healthier, more informed and better-supported workforces.

Are you looking for workplace based health education for you and your team….? Please drop us an email or message if you would like to explore further:

Not all HRT is the same and different preparations may be absorbed differently and every woman responds differently.

If you've tried HRT and are still struggling, don't give up. Speak to your health provider again and ask what other options are available.

BMS Conference 2026 - Day 2 ✨

Brilliant talks on preventing recurrent UTIs (vaginal oestrogen is excellent); the importance of the menopause and HRT in kidney and rheumatological diseases; the risks of bloods clots with HRT; and the role of progestogens and how the various types differ.

Lots to take away to use in our consultations and to help with patient care. ✍

Fabulous first day at the BMS Conference 2026. 👏

Lectures on the newer NK3R antagonists (Fezolinentant and Elinzanentant) which are very exciting additions to menopause care; the considerations needed for those taking HRT and the weight loss injections; the role of testosterone; and the importance of embedding menopause care into mental health care.

Plus an excellent reminder on the role of CBT and mindfulness based interventions in managing menopausal symptoms; and options for helping poor sleep in the menopause.

Rounded off with a “Who wants to be a menopause specialist quiz”.

Looking forward to day 2 today. ✨
