When you’re getting your young person ready for university, the checklist can feel endless: bedding, kitchen essentials, stationery, laptop…
But there’s one thing that deserves just as much preparation: their health.

Before they leave home, make sure they’re equipped to manage it independently - from having enough regular medication and knowing how to arrange repeat prescriptions, to understanding where to turn if they become unwell.

It’s also a good time to check they’re up to date with any vaccinations they may need before starting university. REMEDI HEALTH can help review their vaccination needs and arrange appropriate vaccinations, so it’s one less thing to think about before they go.
University is also an important step towards taking ownership of their healthcare: knowing when to seek help, feeling confident booking appointments and understanding how to access confidential medical support when they need it.

At REMEDI HEALTH, we provide students with fast, discreet and convenient access to healthcare - helping them feel supported away from home and giving parents greater peace of mind.

Prepare them for university. Prepare them to look after their health, too.

The number on the scales is only part of the story.
When you lose a significant amount of weight, some lean tissue can be lost alongside fat.

With GLP-1 medicines, this matters because a reduced appetite can make it harder to consume enough protein. Weight loss does not provide the stimulus your muscles need to stay strong - adequate protein and regular resistance exercise are essential for preserving muscle mass.

The goal shouldn’t simply be to lose weight. It should be to lose fat while protecting your muscle, strength and physical function.

That means making two things a priority:
Protein provides the building blocks. Resistance training gives your body the signal to keep the muscle.
Sleep, nutrition and managing side effects appropriately matter too. Together, these habits can help improve the quality of the weight you lose - not just the number you see on the scales.

A successful GLP-1 journey is about more than becoming lighter. It’s about protecting your strength, nutrition and health along the way.
Speak to our weight management specialists at REMEDI HEALTH about a supported approach to healthy, sustainable weight loss.

GLP-1 medications reduce appetite and food intake, but good nutrition becomes more important - not less.
When food intake decreases, every bite matters. Prioritising protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals becomes even more important to support your health, strength and energy during weight loss.

In this video, we explain why the quality of your diet matters just as much as the quantity.
Today Deborah discusses how to make a smaller diet a smarter one.

Save this post as a reminder that successful weight loss is about nourishing your body, not simply eating less.

This week, we’re exploring one of the biggest misconceptions surrounding GLP-1 medications: GLP-1 medicines can turn down hunger and quiet the “food noise”, but reduced appetite isn’t the same as lasting behaviour change.

Throughout this series, we’ll explain why sustainable results depend on focusing on nutrition, preserving muscle and building healthy behaviours alongside treatment.

Medication can help you feel fuller sooner, stay satisfied for longer and experience fewer cravings. What it can’t do on its own is teach you how to navigate stress eating, social situations, meal planning or the routines that support your health long term.
That matters because obesity is a chronic, biologically driven condition. Appetite can increase again if treatment changes or stops, and weight regain is common.

In today’s video Deborah explains how, while the food noise is quieter, there’s an opportunity to use that space to understand your relationship with food and practise habits that support your treatment.
Watch Part 1 now, and follow along this week as we explore what really supports successful GLP-1 treatment.

Why Is Diagnosis Delayed and How Can You Get Answer Sooner?

Many women wait years for a diagnosis of endometriosis or adenomyosis, often because their symptoms have been dismissed as “just bad periods.”
In our final video, we explain why diagnosis can take time, why your symptoms and medical history are so important, and what you can do to help healthcare professionals build a clearer picture.

Keeping a symptom diary, recognising patterns and seeking help early can all make a difference. If your periods are affecting your work, relationships, sleep, exercise or quality of life, don’t settle for stronger painkillers alone - ask why you’re in pain.
You know your body better than anyone. If something doesn’t feel right, get it checked.

Endometriosis or Adenomyosis: What’s the Difference?

If you’ve ever been told you simply have “bad periods”, it’s worth knowing that there may be an underlying reason for your symptoms.

In this video, we explain the difference between endometriosis and adenomyosis, two common conditions that can cause severe period pain but affect the body in different ways. We also discuss other possible causes of painful periods, including fibroids, ovarian cysts and pelvic inflammatory disease.
Understanding the cause of your symptoms is the first step towards receiving the right advice and treatment. Severe period pain isn’t something you should just put up with, it deserves an explanation.

If you’re living with ongoing pelvic pain or heavy, painful periods, we’re here to help you find answers.

For far too long, women have been told that painful periods are simply something to live with. We’ve normalised pain.

This three-part series explores why severe period pain should never be dismissed, explains some of the common conditions that may be causing it, and shares how you can get answers sooner.

Missing work, cancelling plans, spending days in bed or relying on strong painkillers every month isn’t something you should just accept. While some discomfort can be expected during a period, pain that affects your daily life deserves to be investigated.
Conditions such as endometriosis, adenomyosis and fibroids can all cause significant symptoms, but pain itself is not a diagnosis. It’s your body’s way of telling you something may be wrong.

If your periods are affecting your quality of life, don’t ignore them. The first step is understanding what’s causing your symptoms.
