Tongue ties aren’t “suddenly everywhere”, we simply understand much more now about how they can affect feeding, comfort, milk transfer, reflux symptoms, weight gain, and maternal pain. There’s another important piece to this too 👇

When many of our mothers became parents, formula feeding was heavily marketed and breastfeeding support was far less accessible. If feeding was painful, difficult, or stressful, women were often encouraged to stop rather than investigate why it was happening.
As a result, many tongue ties were likely missed.

Because tongue ties often run in families, it can be really helpful to ask your own mum about her feeding experience with you:
- Was breastfeeding painful?
- Did feeds feel difficult or exhausting?
- Were there concerns about weight gain or unsettled behaviour?

Sometimes those family stories can provide important clues.

If feeding doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts, you deserve support, answers, and compassionate care. 💛

📍If you’re concerned about feeding or tongue tie symptoms, our doctor-led team is here to help.

🛡️ Child Safety Week is a gentle reminder, safety doesn’t have to mean fear. It means awareness, preparation, and confidence in your home as your baby grows.

This week (1–7 June), Child Accident Prevention Trust is empowering families to recognise real risks and make simple, practical changes that can prevent accidents before they happen.

At The Natal Clinic, we know that when you bring a baby home, the learning curve is steep, and suddenly everyday objects become potential hazards you never thought about before.

The good news? Small adjustments make a big difference 💛

Things many new parents don’t realise to think about early on:
👶 Choking hazards (even in everyday foods and small objects)
🛁 Bath and water safety at home
🪟 Falls from furniture, beds, and changing areas
🔥 Hot drinks, cooking, and household appliances within reach
🧴 Everyday household products and medicines

You don’t need to “baby-proof everything at once”, but building awareness early helps you feel more confident as your baby becomes more mobile.

The Child Accident Prevention Trust have created brilliant, practical resources for parents which are available on their website.

We encourage you all to take a look, especially if this is your first time navigating home safety with a baby.

💬 What’s one thing that surprised you most when you first thought about baby-proofing your home?

"Nobody told me what to do with my C-section scar." 🫣

It's something we hear surprisingly often.

Around 1 in 4 births in the UK are by Caesarean section, yet many women and birthing people are sent home with very little information about scar recovery, mobility, posture, exercise, or scar massage.

The good news? There is so much you can do to support healing.

A C-section scar isn't just about how it looks. It can influence comfort, movement, posture, abdominal muscle recovery and confidence returning to exercise.

That's why our Women's Health Physiotherapists work with mums throughout their postnatal journey, providing expert guidance tailored to their individual recovery.

Have you had a C-section?

What is one thing you wish someone had told you about recovery? ⬇️

5⭐️, fifty-one reviews, and countless families supported!

We’re incredibly grateful to share that The Natal Clinic continues to be rated 5 stars on Google, with 51 reviews from families across Hampshire.

But what matters most isn’t the number, it’s the words behind them 💛

Each review represents a parent who felt heard. A baby who was carefully assessed. A feeding journey that felt less overwhelming. A family who felt supported rather than rushed.

This is exactly what we set out to create when The Natal Clinic was founded: a calm, doctor-led space where mothers and babies are cared for together, with time, compassion, and expertise 👩‍🍼

We don’t take a single review for granted. Every kind word reflects trust, and we’re deeply thankful for it.

If you’d like to read what families have shared about their experience with us, you can find all our Google reviews online.

And if you’re currently navigating feeding challenges, recovery, or newborn concerns, we’re here when you need us 💛

One of the most common myths in summer:
“Breastfed babies need extra water when it’s hot.”

They don’t. 💛

Breast milk is made up of about 88% water and naturally adjusts to your baby’s needs — even in warm weather. Offering extra water to young babies can actually fill their tiny tummies and reduce milk intake when hydration and nutrition matter most.

The best way to keep a breastfed baby hydrated in the heat?
✨ Feed responsively and offer the breast more often.

Signs your baby is getting enough fluids:
✔️ Regular wet nappies
✔️ Alert and responsive
✔️ Feeding well

For babies under 6 months who are exclusively breastfed, breast milk is both food AND drink. 🥛💧

Save this for the next heatwave and send it to a new parent who’s heard the “give them water” advice. ☀️

❌ Pumping shouldn’t hurt.
❌ Your ni**le shouldn’t become swollen.
❌ “One size fits all” fl**ges rarely fit all.

If expressing feels uncomfortable, inefficient, or frustrating, your fl**ge size could be the reason. 👀

At The Natal Clinic, our IBCLC Polly offers personalised pump and fl**ge fitting support to help make expressing more comfortable, effective, and sustainable for you.

Because every breast, and every ni**le, is unique, finding the right fit can make a huge difference to:
✨ Milk output
✨ Comfort while pumping
✨ Ni**le pain or damage
✨ Emptying the breast effectively
✨ Your overall feeding journey

Whether you’re exclusively pumping, combination feeding, returning to work, or simply wanting expressing to feel easier, we’re here to support you with evidence-based, compassionate care. 💛

📍Book a feeding consultation with Polly for expert pump guidance and personalised fl**ge fitting support.

Did you know? Breastmilk is incredible, and not just for feeding your baby! 🤍

🤱 Many parents are surprised to learn it can also be used for small, everyday concerns thanks to its natural antibacterial and soothing properties.

Here are a few ways it’s often used:
• To soothe sticky or irritated eyes (such as a blocked tear duct)
• To support healing of sore or cracked ni**les
• On mild nappy rash to calm delicate skin
• For baby acne or dry patches
• On minor cuts, scratches or cleaning your baby’s umbilical stump.
• Science donations & research
• Donating to milk banks for NICU babies 💛

While many families find these helpful, it’s always important to trust your instincts. If something doesn’t feel right, isn’t improving, or you’re unsure, do seek medical advice.

At The Natal Clinic, our doctor-led team is here to offer reassurance, thorough assessment, and the right support when you need it most.
