Skin Cancer Awareness Month is May

During my time working within the Maxillofacial Unit in hospital, I saw many cases of skin cancer , the vast majority linked to sun and UV exposure. Often, the damage had happened many years before and only manifested later in life.

Over the years in clinic, I have also gently advised a few clients to have certain blemishes or lesions checked. Thankfully they did and some were diagnosed as Basal Cell Carcinomas or Squamous Cell Carcinomas. One particular client even had a rarer lesion successfully excised.

Please don’t ignore changes in your skin, and please protect yourself from unnecessary UV exposure. Sun damage is cumulative, and those sun beds really are not worth it ❤️

Wear your SPF, protect your skin, and get anything suspicious checked professionally.
