In our Parent Learning Session, Senior Occupational Therapist Soni helped parents understand how retained primitive reflexes can quietly influence a child's learning, behaviour, and confidence.

🔹 ATNR may affect handwriting and blackboard copying. 🔹 STNR may impact sitting posture and attention. 🔹 Moro Reflex may contribute to anxiety, sensory overwhelm, and fear of trying new things.

But understanding is not enough.

Babies don't learn movement by being placed in positions. They learn by exploring, trying, wobbling, falling, and trying again.

Give your baby opportunities to:

🤍 Spend time on their tummy 🤍 Turn their head to both sides 🤍 Reach for toys placed slightly away 🤍 Bring hands together and to the mouth 🤍 Roll from back to side and side to tummy 🤍 Pivot and explore different directions 🤍 Sit with support before sitting independently 🤍 Reach out while sitting 🤍 Move in and out of sitting naturally 🤍 Crawl, creep, and explore their environment

Every small movement builds: ✔ Strength ✔ Balance ✔ Coordination ✔ Body awareness ✔ Problem-solving skills ✔ Confidence

Sometimes parents tell us,
“Speech toh aa gayi hai… but my child keeps repeating everything we say.”

👉 “What is your name?”
👉 “Your name…”

This is called Immediate Echolalia — and parents, this can actually be a GOOD stage. 🌱
Research shows that it often means your child is processing language and trying to communicate.

At Sensitivity, we use discreet, scientifically guided techniques to slowly convert repeated language into meaningful conversation. And the best part? A lot of this progress depends on HOW we respond at home. ❤️

✨ Simple tips for parents: ✔ Don’t immediately correct or stop the repetition
✔ Model the correct answer calmly
✔ Give short, functional language
✔ Pause and wait for processing
✔ Use everyday routines for practice
✔ Celebrate attempts to communicate

Instead of: “What do you want?”
Try: “Say: I want water.”

Small changes in your response can create big shifts in communication. 🌈

Because progress is never built only in 45-minute sessions.

Honored to be invited as Guest of Honor for the Autism Acceptance Month celebration at Santosh Medical College. Returning to academic spaces and engaging with budding professionals is always deeply enriching.

I’m especially grateful to Dr. RK Sharma—a true pioneer in the field and Principal of the OT College—for the warm felicitation.

A meaningful day that reinforces the importance of awareness, acceptance, and continued dialogue. Looking forward to many more such impactful engagements.
