Sometimes, what you call hunger may not actually be your stomach asking for food.
Your brain can also create the urge to eat because it is looking for a dopamine hit. Highly processed, sugary, salty, and hyper-palatable foods can activate the brain’s reward system, making you want to eat even when your body may not need more energy.
This is why you may suddenly crave something specific, snack soon after a meal, or feel like eating when you are bored, stressed, or simply looking for stimulation.
The next time you feel hungry, pause and ask yourself: Is my body actually asking for nourishment, or is my brain looking for a reward?
Understanding the difference can completely change the way you approach food, cravings, and your health.
