Strengthening Patient Safety Through Risk Management Training
This week, Zomba Mental Hospital successfully conducted a comprehensive **Risk Management Training** for members of staff as part of our commitment to improving patient safety and the quality of healthcare services.
The training focused on identifying, assessing, preventing, and reporting risks that may affect patients, staff, visitors, and hospital operations. Participants were introduced to the proper use of **Risk Assessment and Risk Reporting Forms**, which will now be used across the hospital wards to promote proactive risk identification and timely intervention.
We are also pleased to announce that the hospital has developed a Risk Management Policy, which provides a structured framework for managing risks throughout the institution. The next phase of this initiative will involve practical implementation and continuous monitoring to ensure that the knowledge gained translates into everyday practice.
As part of the training, we were honoured to host our colleagues from the Fire Department of the Zomba City Council, who conducted an informative Fire Safety and Firefighting Drill. Staff received practical demonstrations on the correct use, handling, and maintenance of fire extinguishers, as well as the appropriate response during fire emergencies.
Zomba Mental Hospital sincerely appreciates the support and expertise provided by the Zomba City Council Fire Department. Together, we are building a safer environment for our patients, staff, and visitors.
Safety is everyone's responsibility, and effective risk management is key to delivering quality healthcare.
