Every weekend, “I’ll start again Monday”

Does this sound familiar?

You get inspired, make a huge plan, follow it perfectly for a few days… and then life gets busy.

The problem isn’t that you “lost motivation.”

The plan was built for your most motivated self, not your normal life.

The habits that have lasted longest in my own life are usually the least dramatic ones.

They fit into days when I’m busy, tired, traveling, hormonal, or just not particularly interested in being my most optimized self. 😂

That’s become one of my favorite filters:
Could I still do this on a normal weekend?

If the answer is no, I probably need to make the habit smaller.

Consistency gets a lot easier when the thing you’re trying to be consistent with actually fits your life.

What’s one habit you’ve made so easy that you barely have to think about it anymore?

Save this place for when you need an escape from the busy streets of Amsterdam📍

Late luteal phase + feeling a little low today = my nervous system asking for something softer. Oh, women’s hormones!

I felt drawn to be around animals, then I remembered this beautiful little place in Amsterdam Noord that just opened in May.

Bunnies, coloring, reading, or even bringing your laptop and working for a bit if you want.

It was quiet, calm, and exactly what I needed.

The bunnies are so soft and sweet, the space inviting and serene. The perfect place to spend a Saturday.

If you’re in Amsterdam, please go check out and support this very special business. You can book your slot on their website!

Make it your identity.

Not because you worked out today.

Not because you hit 10,000 steps.

Not because your Apple Watch closed every ring this week.

Because that’s who you’ve decided to be.

And I think we underestimate how powerful that distinction is.

There will be weeks when you travel.
Get sick.
Work gets crazy.
Life happens.
Maybe you’re physically unable to train at all.

Your streak might disappear.

Your identity won’t.

It’s what you keep coming back to.

4 tests. A lot of data.

Here’s what I’m testing and why:

DUTCH Plus 🌸💧
Looks at s*x hormones + their metabolites, along with cortisol rhythm through the day.

I’ll look at:
-my estrogen & progesterone balance
-how I’m metabolizing estrogen
-testosterone & androgens
-cortisol awakening response & daily pattern.

I did one couple years ago, but had a hormonal IUD at the time. This will be the first while cycling naturally, and I’m curious to see what comes back.

A blood test only catches a snapshot. DUTCH shows how I’m producing, metabolizing and clearing hormones over a full day, plus cortisol pattern from morning to night.

At 39, that full picture is what I want.

240 Food IgG Panel 🥑🍓🥚

I did one 2 years ago in the middle of my mycotoxin madness. I was reacting to more than 40 foods!

I’ve done a lot of work on my gut since then. Now I’ll see if there are foods I eat regularly that are still creating an immune response.

Hair Mineral Analysis ✂️🧬

A tiny bit of hair can give a look at patterns over a much longer stretch of time.

I’m looking at things like magnesium, calcium, zinc and copper, mineral ratios, potential toxic element exposure, and patterns that relate to stress and metabolism.

I’ve had minerals tested in blood many times, but blood only shows a short window. The body works hard to keep blood levels steady no matter what’s going on in your tissues underneath.

Hair reflects mineral deposition over weeks to months, so it can show patterns blood misses.

OAT + MycoTox 🍄🧪

This is probably the one I’m most curious about. I’ve been tracking mycotoxins since I started my detox in 2024. I want to see where things stand now after a lot of work on my environment and detox pathways.

The MycoTOX portion looks for mycotoxin metabolites in urine.

The OAT looks at organic acids that give clues about metabolism, nutrient pathways, oxidative stress, gut microbial patterns, and mitochondrial function.

I’ll do a follow up carousel breaking everything down when my results come back! 👩🏼‍💻

What if your next sleep hack came from the produce aisle? 🥝😴

Lately I’ve been experimenting with eating 2 kiwis about an hour before bed and it actually seems to be helping a bit!

In a small study of adults with sleep problems, eating 2 kiwis an hour before bed for 4 weeks was associated with:

🥝 Falling asleep faster
🥝 Less waking during the night
🥝 Longer total sleep time
🥝 Better sleep efficiency

Why kiwi?

They naturally contain serotonin, folate and antioxidants, all of which have been proposed as possible contributors to the effect.

There may be another little bonus for me personally: carbs.

I’ve noticed for a long time that I tend to sleep better when I have some carbohydrates in the evening rather than going to bed too depleted.

There is research suggesting that carbohydrates can influence sleep too, although that wasn’t what this kiwi study was designed to test.

Who else is up for a little N=1 experiment?

Cheap. Nutritious. Delicious. And so far, I’m into it!

Everyone wants to know which supplements I take.

But before I tell you about magnesium, creatine, wearables or my latest biohack, I want to know:

How are you sleeping?
What are you eating?
Are you moving your body?
Are you managing your stress?

Because you can’t supplement your way out of a lifestyle that isn’t supporting you.

I LOVE the extras. I test them, use them and talk about them all the time. But they’re multipliers, not the foundation.

Get the basics working first.

Then the fun stuff actually has something to build on. 🧱

What’s the ONE basic you know you could be doing better right now? 👇

And now the next experiment begins 🧪

I don’t test just to collect numbers. I test because I want to know whether the things I’m doing are working.

And this round gave me a few answers… plus a few new questions.

🐟 My Omega-3 Index went from 5.5% → 10% after increasing my fish oil. A big win!

🔥 My hs-CRP was 0.2 showing very low inflammation and my HOMA-IR was 1.1 showing good insulin sensitivity

❤️ My LDL ticked up a bit, so I’m keeping an eye on my cardiovascular markers.

👀 My selenium went from 107 → 158, which was enough for me to pause supplementation for now.

☀️ Vitamin D is still hanging out in the low 40s, so I’m experimenting with a higher dose.

And there are a few other markers I’m watching including calcium, MCV and my liver enzymes.

That’s the part of testing I find most useful:

Measure → something → retest → see what actually happened.

I’ve already got my follow up bloodwork planned for about six weeks from now, so we’ll see what moves. 📊

Need help analyzing your bloodwork? Book a lab review with me and I’ll explain it all personally! Link in bio.

**These are my personal lab results and the decisions I’m making based on my own health history, diet and testing. I’m sharing them for education, not as medical advice or recommendations for what you should supplement.**

Low carb might be hurting your workouts.

Off and on for about a year in 2023 I ate pretty low carb because I thought it was the key to staying thin.

Then my goals shifted.

I started focusing on building muscle, getting stronger, and properly fueling my training to maximize PERFORMANCE.

Because MUSCLE and STRENGTH are s*xy. And I realized the importance of both.

That’s when I changed my mind about carbs.

Protein is essential for building muscle, but carbs have an important role too.

They help fuel higher intensity training and replenish the muscle glycogen you use during your workouts.

And I can feel the difference.

If I go into a workout without enough carbs, my performance suffers.

I’ve also noticed when I prioritize healthy carbs around training, especially my post workout meal, recovery feels better and I experience less soreness.

That doesn’t mean I eat the same amount of carbs every day. I adjust my intake based on what I’m asking my body to do.

During periods of reduced activity, I choose to eat fewer carbs.

On harder training days, I intentionally eat more.

Quality matters! I prioritize whole food sources like rice, fruit, grains, oats, potatoes, and legumes most of the time.

Did you go through a low carb phase too?
Does it still suit you and your goals?
Why or why not?

Carbs are a polarizing topic… I’d love to hear your thoughts!

I took a little break from posting… but I definitely haven’t been sitting still!

The last couple of weeks have been a mix of:
💪🏼 getting dialed back into my strength routine
🥂 hanging with friends visiting Amsterdam
📝 working with clients
🎧 catching up on podcasts and research
🧪 choosing my September round of functional tests

Anddd I’m starting teaching next month, building out better ways to track my own health data, and quietly working on something new that I’m VERY excited to share soon 👀

One thing I’m realizing more and more: health and life both have seasons.

Sometimes I’m deep in the data, testing and research. Sometimes I’m ramping up my training.
Sometimes I’m content creating for hours.

And sometimes the healthiest thing I can do is close the laptop, get outside, see my friends, and enjoy summer.

Your turn: What’s ONE thing you’re working on right now - health, career, life, anything? Tell me below!👇
