Last call for our yoga and somatic movement classes starting this week.

A couple of spots left — didn't want you to miss it.

These classes are for you if you've ever:

Caught yourself holding your breath doing something ordinary — chopping vegetables, waiting for the kettle, reading an email

Started skipping things you used to enjoy because your body makes it complicated

Wondered why you're tired when you haven't actually done that much

Felt like you're managing your body rather than living in it

Wanted to feel easy in your body again — not just getting through the day, easy

It can feel like a big step, especially if it's been a while since you did anything like this. But these classes aren't about keeping up or getting it right. Nobody's watching you. Nobody's comparing. It's just a small group of women showing up for themselves, figuring things out together.

That's it. That's the whole thing.

And your body — right now, as it is — is more capable than you probably think.

Love to see you there.

Book online via Bio or email : [email protected] — happy to have a chat first if that helps. 💛

Spots in our yoga and somatic movement classes are nearly gone.

The groups small because that's the only way these classes work well. You're not a number in a big class. You're a person with a body that has its own history, its own habits, its own way of doing things.

And honestly, a lot of what we do together only happens because the room is small enough to actually talk. To notice when something isn't quite right. To adjust. To ask the question you wouldn't ask in a big class because you don't want to hold everyone up.

That's where the good stuff happens. Not in the perfect pose — in the moment someone says "actually, I've never been able to do that without it pulling" and we figure out why together.

Good movement practice pays attention to that.

If you've been keen on a yoga or flexibility class and keep putting it off — now's a good time. 😊

3 classes | start next week | small groups

Her hip had been giving her grief for two years and she'd had enough.

She'd done all the right things — physio, exercises, heat pack on cold mornings, pillow between the knees at night. It helped for a bit. Then it stopped helping.

What nobody had looked at was how she was getting through her ordinary day.

The way she braced every time she stood up from a chair, like she was already expecting it to hurt. Short tight breaths all day long. She'd been babying that hip so carefully, for so long, that her whole body had just got used to moving around it.

We didn't do anything flash. We slowed down, had a proper look, and started giving her a bit of new information to work with.

Three weeks later she walked to the letterbox and her hip didn't say a word.

"I didn't realise I'd been holding myself so carefully. I feel like I can just walk again."

That's the bit we love. Not anything big — just walking to the letterbox without thinking about it.

If this sounds familiar, we have three yoga and somatic movement classes coming up this week. Small groups, women 55+, no experience needed.

👉 Link in bio — a few spots have already gone so don't sit on it too long.

One of my students said something that keeps circling around in my brain.

She'd been gardening her whole life — loved it — but somewhere along the way she stopped getting down on her knees. Then stopped reaching overhead. Then started doing only the easy bits.

She hadn't even noticed it happening. She just kept adapting, making her work area smaller, until the garden she'd always loved felt like hard work.

You probably have areas of your life that feel like that. Getting up and down off the floor, negotiating narrow stairs or reaching up to the top shelf.

You've had to adjust, be close to the chair for support, the handrail for balance or storing things lower.

That's what happens when we lose trust in our bodies. We don't stop all at once. We just do less.

What happens when you come to yoga or somatics classes: you're back to feeling more confident in your body. Not because you get a miracle fix — but because you take time to listen to your body as you move. Making adjustments as you go and using your muscles to feel balanced and strong.

That's what you get at somatic classes. And it's what yoga classes, taught well, has always done.

Next in-person classes are coming up soon. Small group, no rush, designed for where you actually are right now.

Think back...
How often do you hang out the washing and notice your shoulders are practically up around your ears the whole time? Or reverse out of a carpark and find you can't turn your neck that far anymore?

It's not dramatic. It's just... there. These small moments where your body tells you something has shifted.

Most of us have been taught to get on with it. Bit of a stretch, cup of tea, she'll be right.

But what if those little signs aren't your body complaining — what if it's the reminder to do something different.

Our yoga and somatic classes are for women 55+ who are done guessing and want to understand what's going on with their bodies. Our classes are coming up soon and we'd love you to come along.

Leave a note below and we'll send you the details. We start next week.

Feeling stiff, so stiff no amount of stretching seems to ease?

It's not just a muscle problem.

After 55, stiffness is often your nervous system doing what it's learned to do - brace, hold, protect. And stretching the muscles sitting on top of that pattern doesn't reach the source. That's why you can stretch every day and still wake up tight.

Somatic movement works where the pattern actually lives. Small movements, done slowly and with full attention, that let your nervous system learn it's safe to release.

Most women say the same thing afterwards - they hadn't realised how much they'd been holding until they finally put it down.

Somatic Movement - 6 week course
Monday mornings, 11am-12noon
Starts: 15 June

No experience needed 🌿

Most winter weight loss advice was built for a different body than yours.
Eat less, move more, push harder. That advice was largely developed on younger bodies with different hormonal profiles. On a postmenopausal body in a NZ winter, it often backfires. Harder exercise reads as stress. Stress raises cortisol. Cortisol signals your body to hold fat, particularly around your middle. You end up exhausted, sore, and no further forward - and somehow convinced the problem is your willpower.
Your willpower is fine. Your approach needs updating.
What works after menopause is not the same as what worked at 35. Your body needs warmth, not punishment. Strength work that builds the muscle your metabolism depends on. Food that is nourishing and satisfying rather than restricted and joyless. Movement that feels good in your body rather than movement that depletes it.
Drop a Dress Size by Spring is eight weeks of exactly that - built for women 55+, grounded in how your body actually works in winter, and supported by coaches and a group of women who understand what you are navigating.
If you have tried the harder approach and found it wanting, this week is a good time to try something different.

Can we talk about the story you've probably been sold about your body after 55?

You know the one. It goes something like - well, what do you expect at your age. The weight's creeping up, the energy's winding down, and the best you can do is manage it gracefully and buy bigger jeans. You've probably heard some version of this, maybe from a doctor, a magazine, or a well-meaning friend who's already made peace with it. Maybe you've even started to believe it yourself.

Here's what nobody told you.

That story's missing half the picture. Yes, your body's shifted - oestrogen's dropped, metabolism's changed, and winters hit differently than they used to. But that's not decline. In Ayurveda these are your vata years - the stage of wisdom, insight, and a different kind of strength. Layered over a kapha winter - cold, heavy, damp - your body's asking for something specific right now. Not punishment. Warmth, nourishment, and movement that actually suits where you are.

And here's the bit most women never get told.

The harder workouts that used to work? After menopause they can backfire. Hard exercise reads as stress. Stress raises cortisol. Cortisol tells your body to hold fat, especially around your middle. So you're working harder, feeling worse, and going nowhere - and somehow the story you've been handed says that's your fault too.

It's not.

Women who've stopped using the wrong tool for the job and started working with their body instead find something genuinely shifts. They're dropping a dress size. They're feeling stronger and steadier on their feet. They're sleeping better. They've found a way of eating and moving through winter that they can actually sustain past spring - not because they've gritted their teeth harder, but because they've finally got the right support for the body they actually have right now.

That's what Drop a Dress Size by Spring is built around.

Eight weeks, starting this weekend. It's a small group - the kind where everyone knows your name and nobody's falling through the cracks. Weekly coaching calls, daily support, movement and food guidance that works for a postmenopausal body in a NZ winter, and women who're done settling for the story they were handed.

By spring you could be wearing a smaller size, feeling stronger in your body, and knowing you didn't just sit the winter out waiting for things to change on their own.

If that sounds like you, comment SPRING below or flick us a message and we'll send you the details.

You wake up on a Monday morning and your hips are stiff, your shoulders are tight, and getting out of bed takes a moment longer than it used to. You remember when moving just happened without thinking about it.

Most movement classes tell you to push through that. Work harder. Do more. We reckon that's the wrong end of the stick entirely.

Your body is not broken. It is a living, sensing system - and after 55 it needs something different from what it needed at 35.

Somatic movement works with that.

It starts from the inside out, from what your body already knows, and teaches you how to reconnect to it. Small, deliberate movements that actually rebuild how you hold yourself, balance, and move through your day.

That is what this six-week course is about.

Somatic Movement - 6 Weeks
Monday mornings, 11am-12noon
16 June - 21 July

We will work through how your body is designed, how your brain works, and how moving slowly and with attention creates more lasting change than pushing hard ever did.

No experience needed - this is a genuinely good place to start if movement has felt hard lately or you have been away from it for a while.

Suitable for beginners and seniors.
