Ten years ago, I thought wellness required a passport. I used to think that true calm only lived in places like the one shown in this photo. By a tropical pool surrounded by lush greenery, far away from everyday responsibilities.

I’ve evolved my outlook and I’m glad I have. Wellness is not a destination you visit once a year. It is a practice you build right where you are.

Stress, screen time, and time sat at a desk can leave our upper bodies feeling just like the spiky branches on this large tree, stiff, rigid, and locked in place.

We can hold so much sharpness in our neck, jaw, hands, and face without even realising it.

Tonight in our Submerge & Settle class, we use a simple tennis ball to melt those sharp edges away, myofascial release techniques interspersed with Yin Yoga poses.

Fuelling the inner fire.

After guiding two morning classes through their practice yesterday, it was time to replenish and reset.

In our classes, we focus deeply on our Core, the deep, central current that serves as the powerhouse for all physical movement.

To maintain energy throughout the day, we need a sustainable inner fire at our centre and that takes fuel.

I hadn’t made a green smoothie in a long time so this was a re-appearance of an old staple! I enjoyed becoming reacquainted.

When we pair intentional movement with mindful nourishment, we create a rhythm that supports us both on and off the mat.

Sometimes a path simply isn’t your dharma*, even if it’s just a tiny block cat. 🐾

Give yourself permission to step away from the things that drain your energy, so you can refocus on what truly brings you flow.

Letting go of what isn’t yours makes space for someone else to step in and find their own joy.

*Dharma is a Sanskrit word that if often translated as “life’s purpose”. We can look at it also as a dynamic question…what is my role, my duty, my purpose in this exact moment?
