We are proud to announce that two (2) of our surgical residents have qualified to present a total of THREE (3) different papers at the International Pancreatobiliary Meeting (IPBM) 2026 hosted by the Korean Pancreatobiliary Association from April 2 to 4, 2026, at the Grand Walkerhill, Seoul, South Korea.
The following residents and official posters were screened and accepted by the organizers:

1) Dr. Allan Castro -- 5th year surgical resident (2 Research entries accepted)
Paper 1: Concordance of Clinical and Pathological Classification of Calculous Cholecystitis Type: A 3-Year Single-Center Retrospective Review
Paper 2: Comparison of Percutaneous and Surgical Drainage for Necrotizing Pancreatitis: A Meta-Analysis

2) Dr. Karl Jefferson Malubay Moscoso -- 2nd year surgical resident (1 case report accepted)
Paper 3: Laparoscopic Management of Gallstone Ileus and Cholecystoenteric Fistula Presenting as Complete Bowel Obstruction: A Case Report

We are proud to announce that three (3) of our surgical residents have qualified to present a total of FOUR (4) different papers during the 2026 Seoul International Symposium of Surgical Oncology (SISSO) hosted by the Korean Society of Surgical Oncology from February 6 to 7, 2026, at the Suwon Convention Center, Suwon, South Korea. The following residents will be presenting their paper/s in the said event:

1) Dr. Matthew Apollo M. Acop (5th year; 1 research paper)
o Oral Presentation: Comparison of oncologic and clinical outcomes of patients with or without pectoral fascia preservation for mastectomy in breast cancer surgery: A meta-analysis

2) Dr. Allan B. Castro (4th year; 1 research paper and 1 case report)
o Oral Presentation: Pre-operative oral calcium with or without vitamin D supplementation to prevent hypocalcemia among adult patients undergoing parathyroid-sparing total thyroidectomy: A meta-analysis
o E-Poster Presentation: Abdominal wall mass as metastatic presentation of an occult renal cell carcinoma: A case report and metasynthesis of similar cases

3) Dr. Jo Albert B. Barasona (1st year; 1 case report)
o E-Poster Presentation: Rare parotid oncocytoma mimicking common salivary gland neoplasms: A case report

Furthermore, Dr. Allan Castro has been chosen as a recipient of the $500 travel grant provided to few selected presenters for the event meticulously screened by the hosting body.

The event will also serve as a competition and will declare 4 winners in the oral presentation and 5 winners in the poster presentation category.
