Your ears are naturally self-cleaning, and inserting cotton buds into the ear canal can:

Pursuant to the recommendation of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) following the conduct of the Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA), and in view of the expected effects of Tropical Storm Maymay, classes in all levels, both public and private schools, in the Municipality of Paoay are hereby suspended tomorrow, Thursday, August 6, 2026.

The suspension is being implemented as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of all learners, teaching and non-teaching personnel.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant, monitor official weather advisories, and take the necessary precautions.

The Philippine Statistics Authority reports the top causes of death in the country for January to December 2025 (Provisional as of 31 May 2026).

Leading the list were:

❤️ Ischaemic heart diseases
🔬 Neoplasms
🧠 Cerebrovascular diseases
🌬️ Pneumonia
🩸 Diabetes mellitus

While these numbers reflect ongoing health challenges, they also remind us to take small steps toward better lifestyle choices, regular check-ups, and stronger support for community health.

Whether you buy them online as a cheap way to keep the children entertained, or find them at a funfair or family event, light-up toys are great fun.

But many of these flashing toys contain easy-access button batteries which can kill if swallowed.

So, if you buy any button battery powered items, remember to check the battery compartment is secured with a screw or similar fastener to prevent children gaining access.

If it isn’t secure, please keep it out of reach of young children and recycle any loose button batteries as soon as you can.
