SAVORY vs SWEET BREAKFAST 🥖🍚🥔

Ever feel completely mentally drained by 2:00 PM? It might be because of your MORNING CARBS choices. Carbohydrates are your body’s primary energy source, and your brain alone is the main consumer.

When you eat carbohydrates, your body breaks them down into glucose (blood sugar). But how fast that happens depends entirely on the type of carb you choose:

🥞 Simple Carbs like White bread, pancakes, cereals, danishes, and sodas flood your bloodstream with glucose instantly. You get a quick burst of energy, followed by a dramatic "sugar crash" that leaves you sleepy, irritable, and unable to focus during lectures mid morning.

🍠 Complex Carbs from Brown rice, sweet potatoes (kamote), oatmeal, and whole wheat bread take a long time to break down. They release a slow, steady stream of glucose into your system, keeping your concentration sharp and your energy stable for hours.

Make the better choice! Swap your morning sugary breakfast for a savory ham and egg sandwich on whole wheat bread or a piece of sweet potato. Give your brain the steady fuel it needs to sustain you for the day!

FACT CHECK: Nearly 25% of our daily energy is used strictly to power brain function, and glucose is your brain's preferred, primary source of fuel.

Happy Hump Day!
To catch up to Philippine Heart Month,
your Doks are challenging you to a "SALT SWAP."

Hypertension is often called a "silent killer," and one of its biggest fuels is hidden sodium. Most of us exceed the recommended daily limit without even realizing it!

POCKET DOK ORDER #1: SALT SWAP

Instead of reaching for the patis, toyo, or bagoong to season your lunch, swap them for these heart-healthy flavor bombs:
🍋 Calamansi or Lemon for zing
🧄 Toasted Garlic & Onions for umami
🌶️ Fresh Siling Labuyo or Chilli flakes for a distracting heat
🌿 Paminta or Ginger for flavor complaxity

📌 Lowering your salt intake helps your heart pump easier and reduces water retention. Small swap, huge impact!

Follow up with us:
Can you commit to a "No Added Salt" lunch today?
Drop a 🧂 if you’re taking the challenge, or tell us your favorite natural seasoning below! 👇

That’s a wrap, Perpetualites! 🏅

From the first whistle to the final buzzer, our mission at the UNIVERSITY CLINIC remained the same:
to keep every athlete safe, strong, and in the game!

We are proud to have supported our student-athletes throughout Medical University Week 2026. Whether it was providing a quick R.I.C.E. treatment, assisting injured players, handing out hydration tips, or cheering you on from the sidelines, it was an honor to serve the community in the true spirit of a "Helper of God."

Congratulations to all the winners and participants! Thank you for playing with heart and for trusting our team to have your back.

Remember: The games may be over, but your health is a lifelong competition. 🔥

Stay hydrated!
