PNP MESSAGE ON NATIONAL HEROES DAY 2026

On National Heroes Day, the Philippine National Police joins the nation in honoring the men and women whose sacrifices helped secure the freedoms and opportunities that Filipinos enjoy today.

Their stories remind us that love of country is demonstrated not only in moments of great sacrifice, but also in everyday acts of responsibility, courage, and service to others.

As public servants, we in the PNP draw inspiration from their example as we continue our mission of keeping communities safe, maintaining peace and order, and earning the trust and confidence of the people.

As we remember our heroes, may we also reflect on how each of us can contribute to nation-building in our own way.

PGEN JOSE MELENCIO C. NARTATEZ, JR.
Chief, Philippine National Police

31/08/2026

Today, we honor the Filipinos whose courage, sacrifice, and love of country shaped our nation's history.

May their legacy remind us that heroism is not only found in defining moments, but also in the quiet choices to do what is right, to care for others, and to serve with honesty and purpose.

As we commemorate National Heroes Day, may we remember our heroes with gratitude and strive to uphold the values they lived by in our own lives and communities.

PNP SUSTAINS DRIVE VS MOST WANTED PERSONS, ARRESTS 4 IN ONE DAY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested four regional most wanted persons in separate operations in La Union, Cebu, and General Santos City on August 26, including three individuals listed among the Top 10 Most Wanted Persons in their respective areas.

In General Santos City, personnel of Police Station 6 of the General Santos City Police Office, together with the General Santos City MARPSTA, arrested a No. 10 Most Wanted Person in Barangay Apopong. The suspect was arrested by virtue of a court-issued warrant for Robbery with Homicide, with no bail recommended. The suspect remains under the custody of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology for proper disposition.

Police in General Santos City also served a warrant against another wanted person for Robbery with Homicide. The suspect remains in the custody of the BJMP while awaiting further proceedings.

In Aringay, La Union, personnel of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 1, together with the Aringay Municipal Police Station and supporting intelligence and police units, arrested the No. 2 Most Wanted Person in Barangay San Juan West. The suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant for Qualified R**e, as well as two counts of Acts of Lasciviousness in relation to Republic Act No. 7610. Bail was recommended for the two Acts of Lasciviousness cases, while no bail was recommended for the Qualified R**e case. The suspect is now under police custody.

Meanwhile, in Dumanjug, Cebu, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Lapu-Lapu City Field Unit, Regional Intelligence Unit 7, and Dumanjug Municipal Police Station arrested the No. 10 Most Wanted Person of Police Regional Office 7 in Barangay Bitoon. The suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant for violation of Republic Act No. 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016. The court recommended bail of ₱300,000.00, and the suspect remains under police custody for proper disposition.

Chief PNP Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the arrests demonstrate the importance of sustained coordination and reliable information in locating wanted persons while ensuring that every operation remains within the bounds of the law.

“These arrests are the result of police units doing their part and working together. May mga warrant na kailangang ipatupad, at responsibilidad natin na hanapin ang mga taong sakop nito while respecting due process. Tuloy lang ang trabaho, maayos at naaayon sa batas,” PGen Nartatez said.

The operations are part of the PNP’s continuing drive against wanted persons under its Enhanced Managing Police Operations, one of the key components of the PNP Focused Agenda. The approach strengthens coordination and the use of timely information to support lawful police operations while respecting the rights of persons under the law.

The PNP’s efforts support the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen peace and order and ensure that government services remain responsive to the Filipino people. These continuing operations form part of the PNP’s commitment to the “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”
