19 Years of Giving the Gift of Life
Nineteen years ago, I left Cebu, my wife, and my young son to train at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI). It was one of the hardest decisions Iโve ever made, marked by deep loneliness but also the thrill of learning to save lives.
When I returned, I poured my heart into establishing transplant programs at Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) and Cebu Doctors University Hospital (CDUH). These programs became lifelines for patients desperate for a second chance.
The road was far from easyโtrials, doubts, and even intrigues tested my resolve. Yet, nothing compares to the joy of seeing hope restored in patients who once feared theyโd never see another tomorrow. God made me an instrument of His healing hand, and each life saved is a testament to His grace.
Over the years, my patients became my family, their resilience and gratitude etching permanent marks on my soul. Alongside them were colleagues, mentors, and friends who stood by me, sharing in this mission to bring life where it seemed lost.
I may not have another 19 years to give, but I know Iโve done my best to make a difference. This journey of faith, compassion, and service has been the greatest honor of my life. To those whoโve walked this path with meโthank you.
Hereโs to healing, hope, and the enduring legacy of life itself.
